i still think thats just news hype bull[shizzle], but . the last set of tires i purchased had an oily coating on them to keep them soft and rubbery, i doubt they are gonna start to dryrot unless you leave them outside for 6 years.

i still remember when they said my moms car wouldn't start after y2k and my mom went out and payed some shady mechanic $100 for a y2k upgrade

Never though about it that way .. I guess u have a point.

Then again .. Would u buy Brand new tires that were manufactured 6-10 yrs ago? When for the same price u can select newer ones?

If they aren't used and were stored properly, yeah, it wouldn't bother me to drive on them.

bingo.

It's not like there's some magical process. If i buy tires, and they look pitted, i ask for a new set. you can see right away if they have "dry rotted"

the news creates panic over what, in my opinion is just common sense.

I love how in the video they show shots of treads on the freeways, when it was clearly from a truck. Just look at the tread style, and semis often use retreads.

We use tires from the late 60's to the 1970's at my dads farm... never a problem, even while (very) severely overloading them. I think GC hit the nail on the head.

the tires on my mx6 are cracked and pitted to hell. there is flat spots and chunk missing and the are hard as hell on certain spots. their creation date? 4th week of 2006. they have sat in a field for almost a year in a half and have rotted to hell. figured id give an example of why they would turn to suck.

p.s. they are zexius 316's
