i change the head gasket on my friend 88 honda crx. stock engine. i put everything back together. the belt timing is perfect. but the car wont turn on. it cranks but keeps going. i check the firing order and thats correct. the wires are fine as well as for the plugs.
i have no idea why it wont turn on. it turn on before. any help would be great thanks
ya i check and it didnt look warped.. but do u think that would cause a car for not turnin on?
as for the fuel injection im pretty sure its working cause i could smell the fuel.. and i didnt disconnect the injectors
you sure the timing isn't 180 off. I know in CRX's that seems to happen a lot.
i would def check the compression though. If the compression is bad then you'll never start the car because the fuel isn't getting squeezed enough. I might fire a little but not enough to start the engine.

well today i went bak with my dad... he knows a little more i guess :/
anyways the fuel gauge was sayin there wasnt any so we went to get gas put some in
and we crank it still nothin
my dad got inside and turn it on and floored the gas peddle and it stayed on but it had a real rough time stayin on... but would stay on running and rev high and low. so then he tryed it again and there was smoke coming out.. i check and it was coming out of the exhaust pipes.. the cat converter was red hot from the top.
any ideas?

wat do u mean by 180 off??
but as for the timing on the belt im dead sure its fine piston #1 was at TDC(correct me if im wrong its when the piston is all the way to the top) as for the cylinder head cam gear the up sign was up..
180 off meanig the spark plug is igniting the mixture at the wrong time. Instead of igniting it during the compression stroke it could be igniting during the exhaust stroke. Which is a good reason why it would be smoking.
Its basically setting it on fire and pushing the flame front out the exhuast valve rather than burning it fully and using that power to force the piston down.
Get yourself a timing gun and a manual and the answer will lie on the crankshaft marks. Your valve timing may be right but your ignition timing sounds like its off.
