Had this problem for a while now. When its raining out and I start boosting I get misfires. It throws a CEL and I had it pulled once and it was "misfire cyl 1"
I know I need to change the plugs and I have plans to do that this comming weekend, but would the CAI thats shoved down in the fender cause the misfire?
When I change plugs I will also check the grommets on the plug wires for places water to leak in.
54K, been misfiring ever since I bought the car pretty much. (put the CAI before I ever drove it in the rain)
Any ideas besides what I already know to look for?
its called.. take the bitch in for warranty service lol
at first i thought you were talking about your mx6 - in which case i'd say i had a similar problem b/c of my vented hood and a not so weatherproof distributor lol.
94 mx6 - you name it - I did it, came up with it, tried it and rejected it or just plain still have it. 93 mx3 - klze, i/h/e, rims and paint.. daily driver. 98 jeep GC - 5.9L with bolt ons, lifted, locked. 32x10.5 Goodyear MTR winter/ 30x9.5 bfg ta/ko summer
Warranty is up, 5K ago. Never really bothered me because it has to be raining pretty hard, and most of the time Im not boosting in the rain so I dont notice it...
sure about that? for 06's i believe there was a 5/50k power train and 3/36k bumper to bumper- unless the mazdaspeed variants are different (or unless you're over the 50k lol)

Yeah, I was lucky to get my PS replaced at 49,300 It still makes noise so I try to take it easy on it. Drunk [shizzle]ties in the snow kill power steering fast.
Your not that far over. Take it in and say that they must have tampered with something electrical when replacing your PS. They should at least look at it for you to see if they did, and from there, they should be able to find your problem. At that point, they'll either fix it for you free of charge or you can fix it yourself, now knowing what the issue is haha.

Well, its 54K on stock plugs so I want to check that out. My RFID key has been acting up lately as well. It still starts the car and unlocks the doors, but sometimes the exterior handle buttons dont work.
That is very odd. I wonder if one of the coils is gone in the system? Can you just multimeter these? Plugs on most new cars are not due until about 100k (miles) provided they are using an iridium. Your no where near that, which makes me think its not the issue. If they aren't iridium, then look into replacing them and using that as a start point.

I wonder if thats different on the MS6 because of the direct injection? Its kind of a bitch to change the plugs cause you have to take the TMIC off. I need to look at the plug wires anyways so its just a good habit to change them when I am in there.
Chyea, I am slacking on inspecting this. When the rain goes away I clear the code and everything is fine. I am super busy with a wedding this weekend, and I will be in Orlando all next week for RSTechEd. After that I plan to be putting my efforts into parting the mx6 out.
