Best idea for an 87 rx7

Ok, guys so here is the deal, and sorry if this is in the wrong forum. My moms bf bought a piece of land and theres an 87 Rx7 on it and hes going to let me have it, it's got a clean title and everything. It's been sitting for a while and he said that someone tore the heads or valve covers (he's not sure) and I guess it's been sitting that way since, so I don't really want to start troubleshooting and get it back on the road again, but is it possible if I just cleaned it up I could sell it, or would I make more money parting it out? Let me know what you guys think.

Also, I know they turboed a lot of these and it only has 120k on it, is it worth looking into some of the turbo parts for my 6.

Only pic I have as of now, will get some more 2morrow.

well thats not a turbo model, and the turbo bits wont bolt onto your 6 without serious modification, about the only thing you could use is the turbo

it isnt missing heads, or valve covers, cause it doesnt have them...

ill put alot of money on apex seals, cause there the rotors weak point

which means full engine rebuild

1993 626 KL-ZE, i swear its stock officer...
From SAE 920677... "LONG LIFE AND MAINTENANCE-FREE - Efforts were made to extend the life of these engines and make them as maintenance-free as possible so that customers can be pleased with the vehicle's quality long after the initial driving period."

it's ok r in any (mazda) rx model means rotary

you would probably get more money parting it out though, but you never know i would take it somewhere first (or if you know someone that can come to you) to see if it's something easily fixable.

now that im thinking about it have you looked under the hood yet maybe the last owner swapped a v8 into it in that case maybe it is missing heads and a valve cover

Ok, so i got it home and had a little bit better of a chance to look under the hood. Looks like they were doing something with the air-intake? There are two of them almost identical except for a vacuum on them. Anyways anyone think its worth tinkering with? Or just leave it after 4 years of sitting?

Youre going to want to clean the entire thing amigo if you wanna restore it. Looks like you got crap way down in there.

Now if you were in/near WI, I would love to take it off your hands :-)

I don't have a solution but I admire the problem

V8's are cheaper, more reliable, more plentiful, an average mechanic can work on one, have a vast aftermarket, etc, etc, etc...

350's and 302's are all over the place.

Yeah, I'm gonna get them out and see if it'll turn over. If rotary engines do that

Wish I had the cash flow for that, but either going to sell this whole or part-out and use that cash for a turbo for my 6.
