My firearms instructor had one of these in class the other day, and he definately knows his shlt, so if he says its good, then I believe him, but I wanted to know everyone elses opinion on it, and if you have any experience with it, because im probably going to be buying it in a few weeks.
Those are pictures of the actual firearm I will be getting, that he sent me. Shotgun not included...
Its a RIA (Rock Island Armory) 1911, and theyre not that expensive, but theyre supposed to be just under Springfields 1911s in quality. The one I held in class I really really liked. I liked the finish on it, and I liked that it wasnt too flashy, and it had a gritty look to it. He had about $700 into his though, and he lived it, so I will probably be customizing mine.
The guy wants $350 for it, and it supposedly only has 25 rounds through it. Its .45ACP, and hes throwing in a box of 50 rounds as well. I think they go around $350 brand new, and he said that he paid around $350 for it, and thats why hes selling it for that much.
Its made in the Philipines, so that might scare some people off, but its better than Llama Figured for $350 it cant hurt to try it when someone who knows a lot about guns said its good
The desert eagle would be a fantastic weapon..........if it didn't use such a retardedly huge round. The recoil on those things is ridiculous. No balance at all.

You can get them in .357
As for the 1911, my bro had a 1911 from rock river(I think), it was also way cheap. It was cheap cuz it sucked.
Ill wait until grangalan sees this thread. If he doesnt see it by tomorrow, Ill PM him.
For those that said their brother had a Rock River 1911, Rock Rivers arent cheap. I have a magazine with the prices that they usually go for. $1400? $1500? I think you must be thinking of something else. And also, just because its cheap in price, doesnt mean that its necessarily a cheap gun. Some would say "I wouldnt trust my life to it". Well, Im not. Thats what my XD is for. I just want this for use at the range, and just to say I have a .45ACP, and a 1911. You have to have a 1911 in your collection, or you cant really call it a collection
Ive seen guns that are way cheaper, and way nastier in quality, and this gun didnt seem that bad when I held it. Ive heard that the break in period sucks though, and that they jam up the first 200 rounds or so, but after that, theyre pretty much flawless. I wasnt really asking if its a spectacular gun. I was asking if its a good gun for the price. I dont expect to get anymore than what I pay for, but I do expect to atleast get what I pay for.
As for Desert Eagles, thats more of a showing off or collectors thing. I hate the things. Theyre way too big of a caliber, not to mention they have a 10" barrell, so carrying one is very much out of the question. Besides, why someone would want to carry a 12LB gun is beyond me. Ive never shot one, but they dont really appeal to me. Theyre very unpractical, and I think its all just flash.
