I got this in a forward... It was in a Tampa Newspaper
Think about this: If you don't want to forward this for fear of offending someone-----YOU'RE PART OF THE PROBLEM !!!!
Subject: THIS WAS IN A TAMPA NEWSPAPER Will we still be the Country of choice and still be America if we continue to make the changes forced on us by the people from other countries that came to live in America because it is the Country of Choice??????
Think about it! All we have to say is, when will they do something about MYRIGHTS? I celebrate Christmas...........but because it isn't celebrated by everyone..............we can no longer say Merry Christmas. Now it has to be Season's Greetings.
It's not Christmas vacation, it's Winter Break. Isn't it amazing how this winter break ALWAYS occurs over the Christmas holiday?
We've gone so far the other way, bent over backwards to not offend anyone, that I am now being offended. But it seems that no one has a problem with that. This says it all!
This is an editorial written by an American citizen, published in a Tampa, FL Newspaper. He did quite a job; didn't he? Read on, please!
IMMIGRANTS, NOT AMERICANS, MUST ADAPT. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Americans. However...... the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the "politically correct! " crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others.
I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to America. Our population is almost entirely made up of descendants of immigrants. However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand. This idea of America being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Americans...... we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.
We speakENGLISH, not Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language!
"In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan.. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women.......on Christian principles............. founded this nation..... and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home.........because God is part of our culture.
If Stars and Stripes offend you, or you don't like Uncle Sam, then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. This is OUR COUNTRY, our land, and our lifestyle. Our First Amendment gives every citizen the right to express his opinion and we will allow you every opportunity to do so! But once you are done complaining....... whining...... and griping....... about our flag....... our pledge...... our national motto........or our way of life....I highly encourage you to take advantage of one other Great American Freedom.......
THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.
It is Time for America to Speak up If you agree -- pass this along; if you don't agree -- delete it - You are in the WRONG Country!
Sorry the font is so big... I really didn't want to go through and try to format it all. If you guys really don't like how it looks though, I'll go through and do it. Enjoy, I'm sure a few of you won't like it... lol
to the first part it sounds like the religious people are being offended by not being able to say things like merry xmas....
well first of all you can say merry xmas, people do all the time. yeah its not politically correct, but....so? there have been nonchristians in this country since before 1776. this isnt anything new.
and is that related to the immigration part? because if its supposed to be that is ridiculous, hell arent most mexicans catholic?
im not going to delve too deep into the other part....
but i am SICK of people saying that this country was founded on religion.
bull$hit. first of all this country was founded on no taxation without representation, that was the main kicker.
now we had colonists come over well over 100 years before because of freedom of religion. and that in no way justifies having anything christian (IN GOD WE TRUST etc.) on anything, if anything it is a reason NOT to have it, FREEDOM of religion, not Religion.
Fett, i agree 100 percent with the article. This is an american society, want to be in it, then become an american. Not someone who comes here to flaunt another flag in our faces. Particularly mexicans (please mx6 mexicans, dont be offended, im a beaner too) Plus, we all know that this is true. At times, i think that in a time like this, we should do more about the immigration laws and what-not. The fact that someone can jump the line and come here and demand to be an american is down right BS. There is a brit on this forum, who is married to an american woman. YOU GUESSED IT! He should be an american right? Nope, we wont let him in for some ungodly reason... This fact really pisses me off. The british have fought tooth and nail with us (the US) for manu years! and he cant even live in the states when he should be 100% american id he wants too!
Im done... I usually done get into these type of threads...

Whilst I agree with some of that statement, because the same could be applied to my country. It's also full of bigotry...
Perhaps you god fearing people should read that statement and , and adapt to the true owners of the land... and start worshipping native american spirits.
Let's be honest.. the Americas weren't just discovered, they were invaded, conquered and it's people subjugated.... Just as has happened for millenia in Europe. As a country America is a still a child, perhaps a teenager who's not yet got his driving license. We've not found the solution over here and we've had an extra 1600 years practice.
It's not the sentiment of the statement that angers me, it's the religous overtones... If you want to say merry christmas... nothing is stopping you. Govt can not legislate against free speech... isn't that enshrined in your constitution? So say merry christmas, if people object, tell them to blow it out their arse. It's your holiday... Do Jewish people refrain from saying happy hanukah (spelling?), do muslims refrain from mentioning ramadan... Of course not. I totally agree that political correctness has gone mad these last 20yrs... But have some balls, if it's you religous holiday, say it with pride... Just don't try and impose your other views and beliefs on anyone else... Keep religion in churches and your homes, and out of govt and my house.
Besides... you guys don't really speak English, you speak American, it's a derivative of the English language, but until you can learn to spell and pronunciate correctly... it's not English.
i think that article mixes religion with race and country of origin wich does't make any sense..
i am from italy and i do say marry chritsmas even if people get offended.
i don't speak my native language on front of people that doesn't understand and i see that American goverment is so political correct that is sickening.
Politicians make the laws not immigrants...
so what if people does't like the word Christmas..i don't like religion ruling the goverment and i am not crying about it...big deal.
The goverment decides what law passes on and what not ,if later they bitcch about it why they pass the law on the first place?...cause some a$$ decides he is offended and gets on the news...thats all about votes..not people.
why you think is the reason they are going to pass the amnesty for illegals..votes and just votes..if 11.000.000 illegal immigrants become citizens who you think they going to vote for?....that's right.. and republicans know it. all politics.. nothing else.
We speakENGLISH, not Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language.
Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language!
haha, if you'd like to get technical. You should be speaking Create or Manatee. Because English wasnt this lands first language.
oh americans and their rantings, always good for a laugh.

Ok boba fett, America is the country of choice BECAUSE there are so many minorities that can come here and try to live comfortably. They come here to make a life. Now what I'm getting from this "email" that you received is that this was definately made by some White person that dislikes minorities. For one, we are not changing anything, its your government that is doing it. Two, everyone in this country have the same freedoms that everyone else has, if not, you have to earn some freedoms just like everyone else. And God is not part of our culture. Why? Because again, if it was part of our culture, then why is it that some local governments have banned the singing of the Pledge of Allegiance? That is your governments decision. It isn't because of one persons decision. If the United States wanted to be as they were when they first founded this nation, it would not be the nation it is today. If it wasn't for other countries where these non Americans are coming from, America would trade with whom? America owes its growth to all the other nations of the world. America would not be considered the melting pot of the world or it wouldn't even be one of the most powerful nations in the world if it was not for non Americans.
And if this "citizen" states that non Americans were being offended....no we weren't. We just thought that it was pathetic that it took an attack of such magnitude for people to say "yes I am very proud to be an American". After the attack everyone went out to buy flags and bumper stickers and magnets, young folks and older alike began to enroll in the Army......after a couple of months.....a couple people here or there buy a flag or bumper sticker. Not many people are enrolling in the Army. How is it that you can call yourself an Ameican if you only show your patriotism when an attack on your country is made? I don't see many music artists making songs at this very moment about being proud to be American.
If you think literally what it means to be an American, it's to be a citizen of the Americas. This is the United States, this is not America. America is both North America and South, that is the true America.
Also, he states that if you don't like Uncle Sam, you can practice the other American right....the right to leave.....that would also mean that many "Americans" would have to leave the country due to the fact that they don't like the government or the military. If its that case, "Lets go ese, its easier to cross the border back to Mexico than to try to get in." There are just so many fallacies in his "speech" that it's not even funny.

very well said... i guess we can call the 1st post the RED NECK post of the month..

Very well said Sir. We have had many arguements over this. Just because you think its right does not make it right. All of a sudden all these people are bitching about immigration.....WTF!! Do you have any idea how this Nation wass supposidly founded? Do you have any idea how many murders were comminted to make this "America"? I have said it before history repeats itself and there is nothing you can do about that. Times will change, cultures will change, languages will be affected. Political correctness has nothing to do with immigrants, it is someone's personal agenda. Please don't make that into an immigrant/cultural/language issue.
young folks and older alike began to enroll in the Army......after a couple of months.....a couple people here or there buy a flag or bumper sticker. Not many people are enrolling in the Army. 1) The military does NOT only consist of the Army... you also have Marines, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard. Someone please dont get started on which branch does what, we all work just as hard as the other... you know you ex-marines want to say something!
2) I think anyone would do the same after being attacked dude...
3) The bold parts? que? Well, I started to enlist my Sophomore year in high school. I had to have my parents "sign my life over" when i was finished at 17. I waited for a year or so to leave, 2 years later here i am... Now i am not saying we should or shouldnt be "over there" but, i did what i could to help out... plus the benifits are rediculously awesome...
4) what does music have to do with immigration? For some reason, it seems "cool" to hate bush now-a-days. Lets face it, most americans rely on TV for facts, and let me tell you, the american media sucks ass... British have a pretty hard core news line... They "show alot more" than we would be able to, but not nearly as much a we/they should....
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3519855663545752103&q=iraq
I think you should watch ALL of this and decide for yourself... maybe even watch a few other war videos...
5) How is it that you can call yourself an Ameican if you only show your patriotism when an attack on your country is made?
Because this is what you do. If you have an american grand-father who lived during the 2nd world war, ask him what it was like back then when the [shizzle] hit the fan. Ask him about the social responsibility to enlist as a young person (which we do not have anymore) to fight. Have you ever even spoke with a vet who was in the [shizzle]? they are really hard to talk to...
