Is it true that "Love bugs" destroy car paint?

Well here at my university they are ALL OVER and are having sex all the time. Driving around campus=a lot of bugs on my bumper, hood and windshield. I read on wikipedia that those bugs release some chemicals that ruin the paint on a car......is that true? And does wax protect paint from that chemical? I put 3 coats last week. I might go to the carwash tomorrow and rinse the bugs off. Im going to use high pressure rinse, is that going to take off the wax i put on?
Thanks and by the way those bugs are annoyng as f*ck!!!!

Don't know about the bugs, but brake fluid can.

I have also heard that if the splattered bugs are left on the paint for more than a few days than removing them becomes a task and paint can be effected. I don't think its the chemicals released during mating though.

Any bird poop or splattered bugs left on your car can cause your paint to fade and erode. Never heard of ladybugs (love bugs) being special in causing this though.
