Thumbs down Someone is leaving trash at my house

Ill start from the beginning.

The second week i owned my house (last may), I got home from work one day to see a big bag of trash on my driveway. Its a clear bag so I can see whats in it, mostly food and cig box's. No papers of identifying who left it.
I asked everyone i know if they left it(family, freinds). And like i thought, nobody that i know left it I didnt have the room for this trash since I just moved in and was still throwing crap away because they only allow us to have a 64gal trash can. Any more then that and i get charged. So i moved it to the neighbors trash.

Over the next months, They gave us a new trash can, that allows for a single trash man to use a truck with automated trash picker upper thing. Rather then 3 guys, 1 driving, 2 at the back tossing crap in.

This new can is 64 gallons, Every week i probaly fill half of it, but these past months its been jammed packed to a point that i have to save trash untill after trash pickup. I thought nothing of it.

Untill today I get home in theres a big plastic basket with trash, carpet, and other materials sitting next to my trash. This crap wont fit in the can. Its not mine, and if the trash man has to get out of the truck to toss it in, I will get charged $20 for it. I only pay $30 every 3 months for trash services.

WTF do i do with it?

and how can i catch this person?

Before some comments are made, I Live in a very nice neighbor hood, Its basically all older people (40+) Everyone neighboring me i know, (i asked them, but they work all day, nor do they watch my trash) From what i can tell there is no cheap skate trying to get rid of there crap for free. And if anyone was going to leave trash at anyones house, why would they pick me? the richest guy in the neighor hood that is never home, lives right acrossed the road.

Look around on trash day and see who doesn't have a can out (Or someone who doesnt have one in thier yard at any other time)

Or ask around and see if anyone was recently renovating, or had some contractor do some work. My shady uncle used to do that [shizzle]. He would go in and do some remodeling, then because we never had room in our trash, he'd just randomly dump it off at someone's trash can.

Or just look for a name in the trash. Hope for a credit card application. Then you send it in, get a card, buy a trash can, and then drop it off at his house

The city provides us with trash cans, Everony leaves there can in the ally at there drive way.. Far as i can tell nobody is remodeling.. its basically just random stuff, and scrap carpet.

It may be a good idea to hide the can after its emptyed, though they probaly will just leave bags at my driveway again.

Get one of those hunting "stealth cams" that takes pictures of deer.

Put it on your mailbox next to the garbage, and when they drop the trash off, SNAP, you got em.

But no seriouslly, Sorry about that carpet i left at your place

here's an idea

make a police report, and buy some chain for your trash can. take the chain/lock off once you take off to work, but overnight, lock it. if they leave crap next to your trash can, then sorry to say, but you're on your own. i would say, install a survaillence camera, but that's kinda pricy. maybe an alarm system for your trash can? haha yeah right.

ditto on the surveillance camera. you need to catch him/her in the action. maybe you should stay home on trash pickup day and watch out your window.

This one is gonna be hard to catch without investing something, time, money etc. It would be cruel to move the bag to your neighbors driveway before they got home...act like you have no idea what is going on, although that may not work b/c you already informed some of them bout the situation. Just keep remembering what is in the trash. build a story of clues to narrow down who could be doing it. Funny they only target you, maybe someone you know f-ing with you (most likely NOT).

Go private eye on his ass...wait for him to leave a substantial clue. But in the mean time if you have excess trash, drop it by the nearest apartment complex or business after hours where no one cares. They have big dumpsters that never get filled. Damn though, sucks it is just you not other neighbors, too.

One of my friends suggested that you hot wire the trash can with 220 volts...you will catch who did it then.

I think you should establish some sort of a pattern.. and then video tape them doing it. then use it as evidence.

nope no fight club that i know of, maybe my other personality is doing it, but we dont talk anymore. lol

I was thinking maybe its someone the past owner knew? like they had some type of an arangement with a family member or freind. The past owners were 2 nice ladys, who built the house, I doubt it would be them.

The thing is that it happens whenever, not on trash day..and probaly at night.
I cant see my trash can from inside my house cause its in back of my garage.. My mail box is on my house...

Also those deer catcher things.. how many pics can they take? Alot of people drive through the ally everyday..

I thought of a chain and lock, but i cant modify the can any.. also if there setting there trash next to mine as well.. that does nothing.

Today I actually went outside, and asked the trash guy if i could toss it in.
As easy at it was, i dont believe i should have to do this ever again.
