I'll definately say that they will try to call it a total, but if you like the car that much you can always buy it back and fix it yourself...if there isnt too much frame damage.

Depending on how bad the rear subframe is, you might be better off getting a new 6, and swapping everything over. At least that way you'll have plenty of spare parts.

another 6 off the road. These days are bad luck days indeed... My friend just crashed his car, and the day before he crashed my clutch failed and rendered my 6 immobile.

My opinion is that your best shot is to just buy it back and rebuild the rear. Second best is to just take all the goodies and move it onto a another mx6. But either way u're losing money... Let's just hope your insurance don't low ball you too badly. Sorry to see your car like that man.

Mods: KLZE, I/H/E, Hi-Flow Cat, Stainless clutch line, Engine mount inserts, ACT HDSS clutch, MX-3 flywheel, Chipped ECU, J-Specs w/HID, K-Sport coilovers, RSTB, FSTB, Addco RSB, Clear side markers
Not installed yet: HEI module

Damn Dave that sucks huge. Getting rear-ended is a fear of mine, and I had a major close call last week...I probably would have been killed too.
I'm very glad that you and your gf are okay and especially the children in the civic.

I have a ton of respect for you for being sympathetic towards the driver of the shuttle bus, I know I wouldn't be. I received a tiny tap in the rear bumper of the piece of [shizzle] Shadow that I used to have and I went rank on the lady (mainly cause my son was in the back) but still. I commend you for keeping your cool.

I hope everything works out okay for you. Good luck and keep us posted.

its a write off fellas...
damage is 4000-4500 through a "cheaper" shop, and through the shop i did my work placement it was 5200
so the car is done

I have no buy back option, and by the sounds of it, no one can buy back anymore as of the spring of 2007 in this province. The gov't passed a law that says all wrecked vehicles have to go to a salvage auto auction thing so that the liability of damaged cars don't lay in the hands of insurance companies.

Im getting 5130 for the car, and im allowed to put my stock parts back on the car like the old black angel eyes, the blown struts and springs, and i get the new suspension and projectors back...i also get to keep my stereo since the appraisor never even considered the stereo equipment when appraising the value of the car...

So i am now in the market for a new car, likely an mx6 or probe 93-95 since i do have a passion for them. i have found two so far that already have ZEs in them that are properly tuned as far as i know...

Here is the one i have my eye set on first...im going to see it this afternoon:
FS: 1994 mazda mx-6 mystere LS Fully loaded & klze - Halifax Cars For Sale - Kijiji Halifax

So there is the news...now i have to swap parts like crazy ASAP before the car is gone.
