My kitchen has dishes in the sink that are 3 days old, the drying rack has dishes from a week ago. I bitch at them every other week to clean, but Im getting tired of it. It isnt working.
My idea, tomorrow when I leave for class (I leave at 7, no one else leaves before 9) I'm going to set my computer speakers up in front of roommates door, and blare the kiddie cleanup song, and leave.
Anyone got something better? I live with 5, 2 couples and another guy. PS. dont live with couples.
That sucks. I really don't know what would work...
Here's a thought (I just came up with as I sat here wondering how to respond).
Can you say "digital camera + a color printer?".
Take photos of the mess, print multiple copies with some type of catchy phrase..."my mommy taught me this"...or "..wow, bacteria ROCKS!!", and so on.
Possibly send those photos to the parents or people that care about your roomates...LOL.
"John is pretty cool, and studying to be a doctor. But here is his sink.....do you want a doctor like this?>....."
Even without captions, I think pictures taped to various walls would speak volumes without saying a word.
Use the MACRO function to focus in on the food particles. "This is how to start growing fungus/allergens/slime...whatever.......LOL.

My kitchen and bathroom can easily top yous. I refuse to take pictures to prove it. You can thank my roomate. He is so horrible about making a disaster with the coffee maker. He prepares a cup of coffee and then leaves it somewhere, makes another one, leaves it somewhere else and does this everyday. Once a week I go through the house and collect all the coffee cups and soft drink cups he leaves around because I can't stand it. I would go nuts if I did it every day.
The bathroom is a whole other story too. Not only does he leave his coffee cups in there, but there's the normal build up and general uncleanliness of having a male use the bathroom every day. But on top of that, he's a greaser. I'm not [fizzle]in around either. My roomate is a 26 yr greaser that looks like he belongs in the movie The Outsiders. Anybody know what a bathtub coated in hair grease feels like? I hope none of you ever have to find out. Also, the counter looks like it has burn marks all over it because he's too lazy to clean up his damn hair dye (black) when he's done.
Very frustrating. And also extremely aggrivating that he has so little respect for my things. The house and 90% of everything in it is mine. I offered him the spare room to rent some time last year, when I had already been living it in for 8 months by myself, so it's not like we went in on a place to live, together. So yea, roomates suck.
it wouldnt be that bad if this was in the day, but everyone is asleep. I came home to the mess after being out all night and the place smelled like [shizzle]. I fully expect it to be the same tomorrow morning.
just start throwing things out. Leave a note giving a week's notice.. and then thereafter anything left for over a week gets thrown out.
Don't like it? clean up your [shizzle].
Want to complain? put the energy into cleaning up your [shizzle].
You don't care if their room is a mess, if their bed is un made, and etc.. but the public areas... treat them like children if they don't want to pull their weight.

After living with 1 other person since 2004, I can tell you that you're never going to make a worthwhile change in anyone if they're naturally messy.
Either you've got it, or you don't. It got to the point where I didn't even want them to try cleaning up because they did such a half-assed job I'd have to do it myself anyway.
I'm very anal about mess and clutter (thanks parents) and thankfully I've now been on my own for 2 months and it's FANTASTIC!
