Macbook keyboard

my wife has a macbook, I went to clean out the keyboard for her and sprayed some air under the keys. The computer was off during this. She now reboots it and the keyboard does not work at all. no keys whatsoever work. I can't imagine what I did wrong, and of course mac won't do phone support with us since she apparently didn't have the right warranty.

It probably just loosened the connection.
Search online for instructions on how to remove the keyboard and reseat the ribbon connection.

god i wish it were that simple. The way here comp is set up, you damn near have to disassemble the whole thing to do that. And it just seems crazy that a few shots of compressed air could get it that loose. I have found a few places online that say it's a fairly common problem, but there does not seem to be a clear cut solution other than updating Leopard, which Cindy doesn't have. I really don't want to go to an Apple Store.

That is reason #1 I will probably never buy another Mac. I know they are more reliable than a PC, but I like to fix thing when they break.
Every single PC laptop I have ever owned could have the keyboard removed pretty easily.

It looks like the entire top part of the keyboard can just be removed by unscrewing the 8 screws on the side of the laptop? Have you tried that, or is there more to it?

I just replaced teh LCD on my laptop for work. I had to remove the keyboard, wireless card, button bezel, and the edging around the screen. I had the whole thing apart and reassembled in under 1 hour.

The keyboad was held in by 2 screws and 2 sping clips after i removed the button bezel.

I have never owned a mac but on any computer the keyboad should be one of the easiest things to remove since it basically uncovers 70 percent of the MOBO and you can change half of the components if they fail.

That's why I love thinkpads. Four screws and the keyboard/mouse come out, and you have access to 95% of the mobo

Chris is right, it is just a matter of removing the side screws. I had to replace the LCD on my MBP. Powerbook Medic has great pdf tear-down manuals. I had my whole thing done in about 90 mins and it was a ton more work than you are looking at.

They usually do. This isn't going to turn into a Mac vs. PC debate, he was just looking for help, not opinions.

From my experience with my GF's Powerbook, there are 2 clips in between the F keys. Just unclip them and the board pivots out. But with my luck, they don't use similar key boards.
