"Have ya every seen a Chevy wit the butterfly doors?" [rant]

What the [fizzle] is up with rap nowadays? Can someone please tell me what "butterfly doors" are? Is that supposed to be....Lamborghini Doors? Thats the only thing I can think of. And whats with lines and verses, either being lifted or stolen from one song to another song? Im refering to the line in the title of this thread, which is from a Yung Joc song, which is also in that new stupid [fizzle]ing song they play on the radio every 10 minutes. Dont know the name, but if youve heard it, you know what Im talking about. They do that all the time nowadays. Its like theyve written so much crap they cant think of anything new, so they have to write the same [shizzle] over and over again and steal/borrow from other "artists".

I like a lot of rap, dont get me wrong. In fact, I like a lot of different music. Im pretty open, but Rap nowadays is just garbage. The beat to a lot of the songs is good, but is it just me or are the lyrics TERRIBLE? They keep getting worse and worse too. There was one song on the radio (cant remember which one, its supposed to be kind of slow) that literally stole about 6 or 7 lines from other songs that were recently released....

I dont know anymore.... Does this crap bother anyone else?

[/rant]

Personally I'm not a huge fan of rap for this very reason. They try to sell the image of the performer more so than the music, the music has no point and it's all stolen. They just don't rely on newer rap music to steal it from either they also get it from older rock music. It doesn't matter most people seem to be mindless drooling zombies that follow whatever is in the stupid rap music and comercials. What really pisses me off is when my wife does it. I swear if 50cent wore a pair of cat testicals around his neck hanging from neon pink fishing line you would see at least 30 people the very next day doing the same thing.

I can't say that I disagree with you guys at all. On the other hand try some Lil' Wayne and Weezy, both of those artists seem to come up with all original stuff and they are both excellent performers. Give em a listen if you like rap I think you'll prob like them.

Yea commercialized rap is getting worse by the day. Some of the beats are nice but the some lyrics/hooks are complete garbage. The same can be said about just about any other genre in the top 100 though. People complained when punk rock went commercial for example. Many talented rap artists release new material all the time but since its not "mainstream" it doesn't get played on the radio. These things go in cycles mainstream rap will get better when the men in suits decide to go another direction.

Really about all I listen to any more is older rock from the late 60's through the 70's, and sometimes I listen to 80's early 90's. In my opinion the early rock kind of peaked the originality, meaning, and real talent in the music department.

Lil' Wayne, Lil Weezy, Weezy, Weezy F Baby -- all the same person dude. lol.

anyways, I agree that rap is definitley mindless, there isn't much material in the lyrics. I think the main reason anyone listens to rap is for the up-beat tempo, fluidity, and just hyped up feeling a lot of it gives. Not many rappers use lyrics that dependently besides like, eminem.

i listen to modern commercialized rap for a good laugh...the beat is good but yes the lyrics are often....on the intellectual level of a five year old....but still good for a good laugh...like fifty

'i'll murder dem'

'i move a whole truck, not just one brick'

LOL...no you don't you idiot ...

i just find it concerning when you see kids walking down the sidewalk with about 40 pounds of metal hanging off their neck and they're taking the [shizzle] seriously...

def prefer classic rock of the late sixties and seventies along with modern day 'indy' rock....i put the quotes because i think its a stupid tag...

Try listening to some Atmosphere. I'm not a huge rap fan, but I like it sometimes. Atmosphere is very original and you don't hear his music every 30 secs. on the radio.

aaaarrrg i hate eminem. when he came out he was something fresh, his lyrics, tempo, his style everything was nice but when he uses the same tempo and style on every song it kills what used to be his originality.

i like snoop dogg music since ever talk about comercialized crap.

i listen to regueton, some rap and reggae(bob marley and local groups), i like a little bit of rock, old rock like someone said they peaked the genre artistically and what has come after them its pure CRAP. you can put ALL "rock stars" today in a blender and they wont make One good rockstar. Not like the oldies.

I feel that nothing tops Bob Marley. Theres so much feelings in his songs, the music is so right, every song i listen made by him sounds like a Masterpiece. You wont find better lyrics out there. Also it makes me relax, think and perform better.

Coming soon to a state near you!!

Eminem definitley was better when he first came out, but I was only trying to make a point about how most of his songs tell stories and have meanings that contrasts the typical club rap song.

I'm definitley into reggae and stuff too. Way more feeling and originality. Sublime, slightly stoopid, marleys (all of em), they all just have such a different feeling from other music. Marley is a king.

I used to listen to Cypress Hill, but that was about it. Not a huge fan of rap in general. I never liked the promotion of violence and crime, nor the degrading treatment of women. Granted that could be said about other genres of music, but I can't take very seriously about Gorgoron unleashing epic hell demons on Christian souls.

^there are rap artists that are the exact opposite of that. Thats just a crude generalization like saying all rock is a bunch of sex and drugs.

Look up lupe fiasco

i didnt see anyone clarifying this for you but Yes butterfly doors are lambo doors...i always though that was pretty self explanitory myself tho -shrug- as for all rap being crappy....naahh...but there is a lot of stuff that comes out that has me thinking damn...who thinks this [shizzle] is good?

I find that for most part the best raps out there are on mixtapes or other freestyle type tracks. Especially for artists like lil wayne and jeezy. The worst music out there to me is definately that emo/punk wannabe/im crying crap that ppl listen to...makes me want to punch a baby
