![]() This one cost me about 50AU/20 quid and it's not a brand I would choose, but it is german and it is good quality, I took the pic months ago when I bought it to email home to family/friends. I was equally proud of the chunk of asian hardwood under it that we use as a chopping board. I hate pusssy chopping boards just as much as I hate pusy knives. Quote:

I can shave my arm(first thing I did when I got it back) and face(Gillette razor is still better) with it. It slid out of the sheath (dodgy sheath for first knife) and just tapped my thumb. Gave me a rather painful cut straight away. Thing is even though it is that sharp, it is no way near as sturdy as a real hunting knife. Would be great to a house intruder though, not that I am expecting it to happen. My broadheads for the bow are sharp enough to shave with as well.
Yer plenty of animals that are feral problems in NZ, are native to Australia and protected species . Plenty of people go pigging here with nothing but knives and dogs. I see it as cruelty though, they can get torn apart by the dog for maybe 5minutes before you get to it. Oh and btw the bow is more then capable of taking down a big boar or a goat, just that if you miss it wont go down without another shot, and will probably just bleed out for a few hours in very bad pain. If you cant do it with one shot, dont do it at all.Stealth we are talking Australia and NZ here. There are no guns. Crims barely have guns, and even then, used rarely and mainly for show(ie pull it out for robbery, no shots fired or most of the time, no bullets to shoot with). I dont know one person living in Australia who has been shot, or had a gun pulled on them. Not even a freind of a freind. And I live in western Sydney, the worst part of Sydney (just lots of vandalism and pub/street brawls really, petty [shizzle]). From what I have seen an American could not comprehend the level of saftey that we take for granted. I wouldnt want it to be a nanny state like the U.K is though, too extreme, and yes I am disapointed that I cant buy an M1 Garand but what you gonna do... Last edited by Turk : 8-2-08 at 20:23. |

I thought of an anecdote to share with you all while I was coughing my arse off just before. I found a live .222 round under the seat of my ute when I was stripping it down. I thought about blowing it up for a laugh, then I thought about dumping it, then I realised that dumping it was dangerous for the dude at the tip in the digger and drove to the police station to have it disposed of. I walked in and said "I found this bullet under the seat of my ute, it's not safe to throw it in the bin, can you dispose of it please" the guy (obviously a new fresh cop) stood there dumb struck and stared at me before saying "umm urrr how did it get in your car" or something equally ignorant "my old man used to go hunting can you dispose of it safely for me please" he was still dumb struck staring at me when a female cop walked out of the back room and took it off me and thanked me. I walked off and drove home. So, as you can see, even the cops go "whoa, a bullet, holy [shizzle]" at home. I'm not like that at all, I've been shooting plenty and killed lots of creatures and have no issue with the devices themselves at all. I just watched "The Enforcer" too, a great laugh :-) You are a million times more likely to get accidentally shot by some city dwelling wanker who doesn't know which end the bullet comes out when out hunting than be shot in down town auckland by some crim. As turk said, most crims don't have guns... pretty much only the hard core gangs and they get raided regularly and kept under control... besides, the gangs mostly shoot each other lol. Good on them. Speaking of hunting accidents, my dad has a shot gun pellet just below his left eye from some such city dwelling idiot who didn't know how to handle a weapon... Anyway, back to the coffing fit and lack of sleep... Fred. |

Armed Offenders Squad (AOS) - New Zealand Police
See those two smiling at the top? That's what they are like most of the time. The odd one even lets you off after being caught doing a skid ;-) Fred. |

Am I the only one getting a kick out of the Aussies and their "That's not a knife, THIS is a knife!" comments?

It's a well-known survival tip that you should always carry around a length of ethernet or fibre cable when traveling in wilderness areas. If you get hopelessly lost, bury it. Then you can ask the backhoe operator for directions when he cuts through it.

LOL, croc dundee could have been Barry Crump and it would have sold just as well ;-)
I was joking with a mate about carrying that around in my laptop bag in London at night and trying that exact trick on any little !@#$ that tried something on me. It'd be the last thing they were expecting for a dude in a suit and tie to A be carrying a big arse knife and B know how to use it and C look like they weren't afraid to. I reckon it would be just like the movie, they'd shlt their pants and run away like the girls they are. |

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Guess what fellas I am no longer a hypocrite anti-gun [giant half-man-half-chicken]ot anymore. Now I can bag on Americas gun laws(or lack thereof) while saying I am a gun owner myself so no claims of anti-gun bias ."The Commissioner of police has approved your application for the issue of a photo licence as set out below. Categery A & B (ie, long arms) Categery H (pistols). I am now licenced to buy firearms. I am applying for my first Permit to Aquire right now and should have my first rifle in 28days (first gun bought has a 28 day waiting period). I am cheering. |

Cheers man, kinda kidding bout the gun laws thing
. Just bought my safe today and I have to call the local police station so they can come and inspect it and give me an inspection certificate. Cant buy your first gun without one . I am mainly documenting all this so you guys can look at the date of my postings, and see how much and how long you have to go through to be able to buy and keep firearms down here.It can get tiresome and it seems never ending, but I would prefer this to the alternative. If someone is committed enough they will do it. It dissuades people who just say "you know what, I will buy a gun for the hell of it". |
