BSOD isnt that bad. Set it on your friends PC as a screen saver, he will [shizzle] his pants.

What PC specs, Desktop or Laptop? Vista has serious RAM issues. I had the BSOD from over 3 gigs ram without SP1.

SP1 is critical to have with vista.....

thanks for all the imput,

well, Lamber a, ill pm you..

its under warranty, ive had hard drive replaced once under warranty and then after that, upgraded to a lil bit bigger memory (brand new), installed, media direct, then OS. then i had blue screen twice, called Dell, i had to erase hard drive and format it, reinstall OS, and he recommended me to 'NOT' do any 'automatic windows update'. so i have that turned off now. if i still have BS then hey said it will be a hardware issue, but what hardware?? hard drive is new?

Purchased directly from dell website, custom build.

i have a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop, 4gig memory, 160gig sata hard drive, coreduo2 processor,
and i was told by one tech that service pack 1 is having its own issues with vista too. and was recommended 'not' installing it. microsoft is in the works in debugging it. so within time hopefully. i currently dont have SP1 installed. at first they recommended it and now they dont.

for anyone: blue screen error messages: couldnt get code on time, ex.000xxx

IRQ not less or equal is because your trying to run vista with 4 gigs of ram and SP1 not installed. Vista (SP0 basically) will only recognize 3G of ram before the IRQ BSOD.

Take one of the sticks of ram out, and Install SP1. Then Put the ram in and 1-3 problems solved.

Rofl, I had that issue when I built my pc with 4G ram and absolutely could not finish a vista install (tried like 10 times literally) without IRQ NOT LESS THAN OR EQUAL bsod.

have you had blue screen issues since then? i can put one of the 512 cards in with the main one being the 2gig and try it. then after that, install the other 2 gig.

any issues after you did that and installed sp1?

Nope, I have had no issues with SP1. Besides some software not working properly but thats to be expected with vista.

And yes, thats what I did, I had 2- 2gig sticks. I removed one, Installed vista, Did all my windows updates including SP1, then Powered down, Install second stick of ram, and restart no issues since then.

ive gone back to stock 1g memory and installed SP1. and now it reads 4g instead of 3.4 gig of memery available. so we'll see if ti works. if not, then its deffenetly a driver issue, we'll see.......
