I had at least 3-4 bluescreens a week. I installed XP onto it, and no problems after.

Boyzero, the best thing I can tell you is to completely reformat your hard drive then do a complete reinstall, I'm not sure about dell computers, I here they are slightly different than others, just back up any personal data and then reinstall, I know it's a pain, but at the same time, they're many problems with all OS"s. good luck man, I just had to do this myself

It's really hard being God, especially after all the idiots I've created. 2 94' Probe GT'S

Hey I just so happen to work for a certian company and represent the community (Ive also sent a nice amount of free stuff to people on this site, cough mods cough) .... anyways can you send me the BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) error code.

Also next time you get a BSOD let the memory dump complete all the way. After, search your computer for a .dmp file. I will also need this from you. I can transfer it over MSN zipped or get you a place to upload it.

Either way let me know if you can do this. Remember the BSOD might not be a problem with our software but something else.

PM me and I will give you my email for work.

If you have an extra computer and sign up for the Windows Home Server Power Pack 1 Beta you can download the ISO of WHS and install the evaluation version with IRC seven keys. This would allow you to backup all of your data and image your computer for a restore.

Sounds like a hardware issue. Disable every and all visual effect on Vista, and switch it to Windows Classic view...this should help out.

if I go safe mode, all it does is have the safe mode in the corners and black screen and I can see the mouse, the end. I was going to try to reinstall windows on it? I will loose everything sure but ehhh... the lap top is old and I use it to watch movies at work and it will be used for ms in the car. that is bout it.

reinstalling windows should not erase personal files and mydocuments and such..
you can also boot with KNoppix (linux) OS right from the CD and get at all your files

yeah thats an idea^. Download a free copy of ubuntu and you can boot and run the whole OS right from the CD and work as if its an actual OS. Amazing how it works in my opinion.
