I'd say nay, there's a whole lot more that you can do with the $2-3K you're looking to spend on this, that could make your other cars even better. on top of the possible repairs that come with this car, don't forget insurance. THAT will be a bitch of a money pit. |

I've got a friend who drives a 944, non turbo, 1988 or 87. He loves it. I'm pretty sure he bought it for $1500 and its about in the same shape as that one. Looks like a fun car, definitely unique as I don't see many driving around town. I'd drive it haha.

i would show up with 2k cash, act VERY interested. go there to check the car out and talk to the owner for 20 minutes or so to get all the info you need. after you feel the "what price do I offer now moment" offer him 1500 dollars because of x x x x problems and it isn't worth 5k. he will come back with some horse $hitt.. tell him you WERE interested, pull your cash out, and tell him you even came with money to show you were serious...
tell him you have 2k cash right now and would love to take the car off his hands but you won't pay a nickel more... don't burn yourself because you like the car, and DO NOT let him know that is your favorite car, favorite color, favorite ANYTHING cause he will charge you more cause you want it worse. make it sound like you are doing him a favor by buying it... like you don't even really need the car and you will walk away with it. how do I know these things?? I bought and sold used cars in Ohio before I joined the Army. it is up to you of course but nobody likes seeing buddies messed over. if you are going to spend 5k buy this one Porsche 1986 944 Turbo Last edited by professorblaze : 6-26-08 at 23:24. |

i wouldn't buy a high mileage, beat 944 turbo like that, personally.
you're dealing with a 20 year old or older car. 6500 might seem like a deal for a turbo, but its not. By the time you fix everything you'll need to in the next 18 months,.. you'll be close to the 10k it would have taken to get a lower mileage non beat (and non maroon) example. |

don't hate on the maroon interiors! I wouldn't want anything else for my 6 than to keep the maroon interior now. Its so unique and weird that I've grown to love it haha.
Theres even a little club at school now with all the kids that have awkwardly colored maroon interiors from the late 80's haha. |
