Small towns + monopolies = ISP screwage

4 people in a duplex, we paid 81.00 a month for a telephone line that doesnt have a telephone connected. I called to get the telephone removed, and just have DSL, which would be 51.99 a month. 30 bucks savings seemed pretty decent, until she added the fees. 73.00 a month for 1-3mbps. The alternative is 120.00 for cable and internet. I want Wimax.

I canceled my cable internet when I lived in an apartment because our cable provider (time warner) was screwing us every month. When I called to have the phone company hook up DSL only they never showed up, that was setting up an appointment 3 different times.

Mediacom had a monopoly here for a long time, but I think they're finally getting some competition. I'm not sure if it's from DSL or because Centurytel is starting to offer video as well, but I like it. Our bill is $71.20 a month, which includes cable + all the digital channels, HBO, Starz and Encore, HD, DVR, and internet (I think it's 8 Mbps)

I used comcast when I had my own apartment and when they raised my fees I called and complained and threatened to cancel all services from them and they dropped me to the introductory rate again. I did it twice.

My car is going to be the bastard love child of a JDM, ESPEC, and USDM Mx6 threesome.

It's getting there.
