Very true, however I am not sure if he was actually trying to pull him over or just being a good citizen. The truck he was driving has strobes in the front so unless he got out of his vehicle and asked for his license and registration then I can't see how he was in the wrong.

in NY at least - using strobes in a manner to intimidate others on the road (ie: move out of my way) is an impersonation charge - even if you didn't try to pull over, cite, or other duties of an officer... Its basically a classification of a citation - they can technically nail you for impersonating an emergency vehicle for those blue or red LED washer nozzles. blue and red are prohibited colors for forward facing lights (or anywhere but rear, sometimes) in many states.

I know a couple guys here in Calgary that retrofitted an official lights & a siren kit on their old '93 Saturn, and did exactly this. They ended up getting busted for attempting to pull over an unmarked police cruiser.

Front page on the newspaper and everything it was awesome.

Were all just like

way to go!!

this brings back a funny occurrence from my teen yrs.

growing up where I did (Naples,fl) and having pretty much nothing around us without driving to either Miami or Tampa, meant many trips to either one of those places. one time, on our way back from sobe, in my friends 80's model tercel no less, I was driving and he was messing with his spotlight from domino's. which had flashing ability and various colored insets. so we're driving on 41 (before I-75 was completed across the state... man Im getting old...) driving about 75-80mph with him messing around, and close up behind a new celica GT-S. my friend, using the flasher, makes it look like we're a cop so the guy would move aside and let us around him. at the exact same time, we also pass a broken down car on the side of the road with an elderly man and a child standing next to it. there is literally nothing around for miles at this point, and this was long before cell phones, so I pull over the see if we can help, but unfortunately, the celica also pulls over thinking he is getting a ticket !
so here we are, my friend is yelling at me to go, and Im yelling back about helping the broken down car...
about 3-4 minutes go by and I get all freaked out and take off, obviously pissing off the celica, who proceeds to tail gate us and mess with us for the next 15 or so miles

all in all, it turned out badly in my mind.
as such that I feel responsible for not helping the broken down people, especially after stopping to do just that.

Haha, that's an amusing story. Always sucks when you go to help someone out, but something happens, and you end up not doing so.
