KLZE swap - engine stalls - please help

My mechanic has done a KLZE swap for me. The engine starts, but does not idle and stalls almost immediately. They swear they had done everything properly.

Could someone please help me troubleshoot this? Anyone local to the area who'd be willing, either in person, or on the phone?

This is Arlington, VA -- DC metro area.

I've had this car for 12 years -- it's a 93 V6, stick shift. I've poured a fair bit of money into the swap already. I do not want to abandon the project and the car -- please help!

Dear fellow MX6-ers,

I tried to contact Travis, but no joy so far. As he has not logged in to ProbeTalk in more than a year, I do not have much faith he'll respond.

Anybody else, please, who'd be willing to lend a helping hand? In case it was not obvious, I am not asking for help for free.

Please, help!

Hi shqs...

I am so wretched, nothing is working for me. I cannot complete my registration on ProbeTalk. Sent them two mails from two different addresses, both bounced back. I cannot access anything on the site.
I am sorry to be so much trouble. Could you please put me in touch with Travis? My phone no is 202-250-9096.

Thanks much,

Bill

Thank you, shqs...

Basically, ProbeTalk is completely broken, I tried to register three times, different emails and all, it just does not work. I sent their admins at least five messages, received no reply whatsoever.

I searched the net for any contact info to reach Travis, but came up with nothing.

If anybody reading this would be willing to help me reach Travis, I would be very grateful. At this point, I've exhausted all my options and can only wait. It is very frustrating since my time is limited.

Still waiting, no joy...

I took a look at the car, and even though I am a complete noob, I could tell that not everything is connected right. One thing I spotted immediately was a solenoid just kind of hanging loose in there. This is despite the fact that I have given them the vaccuum diagram and stressed that they should follow it.

I do not think that I can trust them to fix things at this point. I have hope, though, that the fixing would not be too painful. They told me that the car runs, just does not hold idle. I am sure there will be other small things to address after this one, too.

Just an update, hopefully Travis will find a minute to contact me as ProbeTalk is still inaccessible to me.

Also make sure that you don't have any loose hoses causing a major vacuum leak.also go over the swap diagram yourself to make sure everything is hooked up right.

Mecka lecka high, mecka hiney ho

Hmmmmm, what did they charge you for your install? Just curious, I try to stay competitive in the marketplace.

However, had you let me do it, you wouldn't be on here looking for someone to fix your car

Regardless, it sounds like there are some issues vacuum and/or TB setting wise.

Bad thing is that I tune the fine settings on an engine by feel. I can't really do that through the interweb.

What I can recommend is to source the ZE vac diagram and check the main common demons to ZE installs. brake booster hose, rear valve cover PCV draw, EGR routing, ect.

If I need to make a road trip, that can be arranged as well.

I would have loved to have you do it, but I did not know you existed.

They have not charged me everything yet, but they looked at the labor catalog and it was like 12 hours or something. I am sure it will be more because I had the clutch and flywheel replaced, also an engine mount, exhaust flex pipe, and lord knows what else. Then they spent a whole lot of time dicking with the engine trying to get it to run.

Even though I know nothing about cars, I could tell it is likely a vacuum issue. I told them. I asked them to do it by the diagram and I gave them the printout of a bunch of relevant posts from the forums here. And yet, there is a solenoid dangling there not hooked up to anything. I do not feel qualified to go over the diagram myself, I cannot identify where half of those things are.

As I said, I do not feel I can trust them with this any more. They are OK for mufflers and such, but this was clearly over their collective heads. That is why I am looking for someone else to make sure everything is done right.

My preferred solution would be if you could do it, please. They said they would give you the bay and tools and anything -- they want the damn thing done just like I do. I know I will pay for all of this, but such is life.

I am really hoping that fixing this and whatever other things (TB, EGR) would be relatively quick. If not, then we can go to plan B.

The wife will kill me for pouring so much money into it, but what can I do. I want this done right and enjoy the car once again -- hopefully!

P.S. Got the ProbeTalk account activated :-)

I'll be up in the area Friday and Saturday. What are their hours of operation?

And are they going to charge YOU to let ME come fix THEIR DEFICIENCIES ?

And the many many superstitions surrounding the EGR and PCV systems have become greatly exaggerated over the years. When I'm done, it'll be back to Factory dependability, with ZE Power.
