Massive Midwest meet next spring?

Well, I am not a frequent poster here on mx6.com, but I am a mod over on PT, so don't let me scare you off thinking I am new to this whole meet thing.

I was thinking that we should put together a big meet for the midwest. Typically MOPOC has a meet every year in KC and also in Columbia, MO and also a summer meet in St. Louis. The Columbia meet is typically in April, towards the end of the month. Those meets will go on regardless, but I was thinking of maybe even having another meet in the Spring somewhere central for everyone..

I think between the three boards (mx6.com, PT, and 626.net) we could have a very good showing!

Anyone have any ideas or input on this?

This was actually why I came to the Midwest section today! I was going to get a feel for a meet next summer. I had one organized a couple years ago, the Midwest Mazda Meet. Only had about ten cars show up, but still a good time. I am definitely interested in a meet and I have a few contacts locally for spots, events, etc. I should hopefully have my car ready by then. I was thinking about tweaking the MOD name to Mazda Owner's Day instead of Mitsubishi Owner's Day lol.
How centrally were you thinking? Iowa, Illinois, MO?
BTW what about a posting on Mazdas247?

I only have a couple of posts on Mazda247, but if you would like to then by all means do so. I really am impartial as to where the meet is to take place, I was really just seeing if there would be any interest. I mean people from MO, IL, IA, KS, and NE would likely be the target group, so what are your thoughts? And yeah I like the MOD idea, so that it is to include ALL Mazdas or Mazda powered cars..

we have multiple all mazda meets all year around here. the OAC cruise we did in june had over 40+ mazdas in attendance. the last meet we had out at busse woods in chicago was well over 60 cars.

id say us chicago area mazda's have the big meets on lock.

(even if no mx6's ever show) lol. but at least im at every one with my mazda6.

OAC is highly prejudice against Iowa... I'm kidding! There are just no Iowans there though!
I think one closer to this side of the Midwest might be better. I know people on here and PT have wanted one closer then Ohio and Chicago. I don't mind the drive to Chi town, but I know it's hard for others to make it.

You guys need to pay more attention then! Every year for the last 7+ years there has been a meet in KC and Columbia! lol

I don't mind driving to somewhere out towards KC, just know that the Chicago area people likely wont attend, because it is 5-6 hours from Chicago to STL, let alone to KC..

Pat, shoot me dates of the meets you mentioned, perhaps when the motor is in the car I can make it up there!

Things to do this coming spring/summer:
- Attend MOPOC in KC
- Attend OAC & HIN in Chicago
- Get my car painted so everyone stops pointing and laughing.

Where is BAMM at? I would like to go to Hocking Hills... I think thats the name of it, but I really can't afford to drive that far and stay an entire weekend. I gots to be responsible - that's what my wife tells me anyway LOL.

ive made the trip to the 3M meet in STL twice now. even been to hocking hills once. (and after driving the 11 hours 1 way, once was enough) lol

and i visited bryan about 2 years ago in stl. but havent been back that way since. i was making a once a year trip down that way. but back then i had bryan coming up to rockford about once a year also.

i miss those old days.

BAMM is in indianapolis, which seems to be right in the middle of where everyone keeps saying (chicago, ohio, missouri... )

What a bout one towards the end of the summer then? If BAMM is in May then why not have a smaller one in July or even August maybe. Good way to end the season and catch up with people again. Maybe even a track day or something. Get the meet really amped up.

im down, just got my mx6 and started modding it, have the stock engine though, hoping to upgrade to a kl-ze sometime soon. but if anything is about to go down, please pm me the date

i will most definately be there with a bunch of my mx6 junkies

I'm hoping to hit up some meets this comming year, I missed the last one organized by Mazdaboyracer because my life just went completely to hell (lost job, parents got sick etc)

but me and my gf are talking about road trips next year any way

I just have to get the 6 to a point that she'll actualy ride in it. First and last time she did it had the old struts on it and rode like a truck.
