except when it comes to the business of aerodynamics.....for 1300hp, a top speed of 215 is a little dissapointing. fast, but not as fast as it could be
meh...who says its 1300hp? Ferrari can do that with 600hp, so I don't think it needs 700 MORE hp to get there. I know it isn't as aerodynamic or as light, but u get the point. That also gets the vote for the ugliest skyline ever.

guys lets keep in mind that speed is kind of like decibels... you need exponentially increasing amounts of power past a certain point, where the friction of air, road, oxygen content of the air, etc all become limiting factors to overcome.
Though the enzo is spec'd at 225 claimed mph, the fastest its ever been tested at was 217.
Keep in mind this is a vehicle that's lighter, using MUCH lighter drivetrain components, etc.
That skyline's awd (or even removiong the front drive shaft, making it a rwd - its still using the same transfer case) is the biggest limiting factor... with the wind resistance being the second.
Look at nascar (lol)
stock car racing, from the 70's bricks with power levels being more or less the same as they were into the mid 90's, got significantly faster with aerodynamic changes... 500-600hp used to propel a car to 18x mph average around an oval track... to just over 200mph in the 90's, with the same power. Then the rules changed, and larger motors were permitted, bringing current power levels up to about 750 hp.
even with street cars.. look at the superbee. take a pretty much unchanged charger, add a pointy nose to it and a wing, and its going 201mph. without it, the thing could barely get above 150 (combination of lift and flat-nose resistance.. but you get the idea.
i don't see it as being that unreasonable, for a 1300hp car with potentially a 25% or higher drivetrain loss, who knows what gearing, and approaching 4000lbs to max out so relatively "low".
the early countach, when it was fastest vehicle, went 186mph. the addition of US spec bumper pads (big square pads placed in front of/ above the front wedge of the bumper) made it nearly impossible for an otherwise identical countach to top 155. I forget the math now, but 200mph seems to be the magic mark where things require more and more power, with anything greater than a drag coefficient of 0.30
something with a drag coefficient of 0.4x (what i suspect this skyline would be, or greater) would need (this is just a for instance, not meant to show real math) 100 extra lbs of torque reaching the wheels for every 5mph faster it wanted to go.
Thats another thing. HP is great and all, but torque is whats going to overcome the wind resistance.. What kind of torque is that thing putting out - if its something like 800lbs... thats really only a couple of hundred more than the enzo, which makes it far more acceptable, that it couldn't go so fast.
94 mx6 - you name it - I did it, came up with it, tried it and rejected it or just plain still have it. 93 mx3 - klze, i/h/e, rims and paint.. daily driver. 98 jeep GC - 5.9L with bolt ons, lifted, locked. 32x10.5 Goodyear MTR winter/ 30x9.5 bfg ta/ko summer
And with that wanker wanker wanker host. I hate that guy.
you and me both, he is a wanker, first class, he was trying to score my GFs little sister. came up to our table in mission bay and said hello to her, i had a set of fingers digging into my leg indicating that i should keep my mouth closed :-)
the sister was 19 at the time, and he was roughly 30.
saw him there again another night with some bimbo hanging from his arm. slimey prick.
goat crap : most of what you say is right, except a few points :
skylines CD is pretty good, and that one was dropped and smoothed.
transfer case if removed = 0 extra loss.
also, there is a clear mathematical relationship between top speed and power, not torque, there is no threshold figure of speed where it changes.
