Yeah, I did it a couple years ago during a MaPOC dyno meet. I've been there a couple times since but just to hang out.
The owner is pretty cool. He gives you print outs of whatever runs you want, and if you want to mess with your plots on your own computer you can just go to the website, download the program, and then find all of your runs on his site.
I'll be going there again with future cars because the guy seems to know what he's doing and properly straps down your car among other little stuff like that. I'd rather spend more money for that kind of competent service instead of saving a few bucks somewhere sketchy. I'm not sure what single appointment costs are, but group rates were pretty good. Not the cheapest place around I don't think, but worth it in my book.

Still love mazdas, but rocking an '04 Subaru Forester XT now.
Define "dyno tune". Bristol Dyno does not dyno tune our cars with or without the stock ECU. The owner has sent numerous people my way for help with this and I only go there for tuning because of the respect he gives the community.
However, anyone can go there and get a baseline for their power easy enough.
well i want a better fuel and air mixture so i can get the most power out of my car.
Well, you're not going to get much more power than you already have without adding performance modifications.
For example, easy stuff being exhaust, intake, headers. For these, the stock ECU still does a great job. The most I'd suggest (bang for the buck) is an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. At this point, just get on the dyno and change your fuel pressure till you get the most power.
Next, little more difficult for the typical DIYer are intake manifold, cams, heads, pistons (in that order). For these, you'll get the most power by either remapping/chipping the stock ECU or going full standalone. Assuming you go with the typical ZE upgrade parts for your DE, then you can just get a ZE drop in chip for under $100 and get most of your power right there. If you went with an EMS (engine management system such as MegaSquirt as it's the most common for this community right now), then you could get upwards of 10-15 more wheel horsepower over a simple chip with the ZE components. These gains are even more emphasized if you go with even more agressive aftermarket cams, ported heads, etc.
As far as I know, I am the guy with the most MegaSquirt tuning experience in the Northeast (not including NY, NJ, etc, no clue who could be out there). If anyone around has more they're not known on this board. I've also tuned AFPRs on the stock/chipped ECUs, but that's doesn't require the most talent.
so basically there is no point to point my car on the dyno with just the basic bolt-on's right???
as you explained, it looks like a lot of work involved and my car will probably be out of commision for awhile. i drive my car daily and i dont have back up to get around.
do you have a shop or something or a website that i can check out???

Right.

If it's your daily, as mine usually was, it's difficult to do more extreme modifications to your motor. Do the regular external motor mods and be happy with it.

I've done all of my own work in the last 4+ years. I've been on the boards for considerably longer than that. This along with parting out many cars that have come my way for various reasons, I have a large garage and I'm not afraid to use it. But no, it's not a shop where you can just drive up 9-5 during the week. It's next to my house. I have a regular job/career. This stuff is just for fun and extra cash when locals need some help.
thanks for the input though. i really appriciate it a lot.
thanks
by the way, u have any parts that you have for sale that might help beef up my car???
if you do, can u please email me with info at magoo978@hotmail.com???
