Hey 88mazdamx6tbogt, long time no see!

Hey 88mazdamx6tbogt, how's it going? Haven't seen you around in a while (though I'm not on here much anymore either).

How's the MX-6?

I've been great. Jess and I have been in our new place about 4.5 months now and that couldn't be any better. It's great having my own garage to work in finally for those winter projects. That's all I'm going to say about that though. You should come up and visit and check things out.

Jess works in Smithfield now actually. Just asked her and she said she was at Coffee'N'More yesterday morning too.

I dont own it any more. I am not really on here much anymore either, except in the lounge. Good to hear that you guys are all still around. I just couldnt justify spending more money on it, being married and such. Came to the point of having just replaced the transmission for 600, and then the upper motor mount on the passenger side snapped from the torque. Couldn't do it anymore.

Sucked too, b/c I donated it to charity, where they come and pick it up, etc, for Special Olympics. Then the car was gone, so I figured it was taken. Turned out I got a call from the police a couple days later saying THEY towed it b/c I didn't have the plates on it. That was the DAY it was supposed to be towed away by the charity! I am guessing the police were just sitting there watching me take the plates off or something. So, I said, fine keep it. They said I had to spring the car or be charged with car abandonment (400 dollar fine and loss of license for 3 months). But, I couldn't put the car back on the street with no plates, so I was obviously screwed either way. I ended up paying ANOTHER company to come and take it, and junk it. Like I said, the whole situation just sucked. Had to deal with it during work, too, leaving to go and sign for the release, etc. The original tow guys were real dicks, saying I had to be there in person to sign it over, and if I didn't have it picked up by 4, they would charge me another 120 for a night's storage.

Then, when the 2nd tow company guys and I show up to take it,they wouldn't let me just take the stuff out of the car there; we had to get it off their property or they would charge me the storage. I was like, "you said I had until 4. " They said "yeah, but you signed for it already, so you need to get it off our property." They were mad at me b/c I wouldn't just let THEM junk it instead (they obviously wanted it for the parts/resale b/c of the shape I kept it in). The 2nd tow company I gave it to actually gave me 200 for it, which I paid to the guys that were being dicks, to cover the tow and a night of storage. That was why I wouldn't leave it with the original tow guys in the first place; they wanted to keep it AND have me pay 200 for the tow/storage. So yeah, I don't have it anymore, lol.

Don't worry about what 88626gt said, he's probably just jealous.

Can you post some pictures of the legend no one ever got to see in person? Any idea what junkyard it went to??

Went to someplace in Saugus, not sure the name. Sucks, since I KNOW they were all making some money on the parts! I mean, a turbo, only a year old, meticulously kept? I had considered parting it out, but I had nowhere to put the parts, or to keep the car (no garage). Not to mention, when it snowed, had to move both cars off the streets, etc. Just an overall pita. All the other new parts? Sigh...so much power, gone to nothing. I DID post pics already, in the lounge. My wife was standing next to it, in a pink dress? People commented on the foglights, among other things. I thought you posted on it too? It was a couple months ago. I dunno, I will have to look at the pics again. They probably aren't linked up anymore.

I think I remember your posting pictures a long time ago, when I was actually active on boards.

I don't think I ever saw any engine pics though, so maybe I missed it?

I am jealous... I wish my engine made enough torque to snap an upper motor mount... for that matter, i wish my car had enough traction to keep the wheels from spinning instead, or had access to a complete drivetrain that wouldn't explode first.

I'm also very jealous that you have enough money to invest $45k into a car with a book value of $1500, and then not bother to try selling it and then tell the cops to keep it after they towed it away.

I do believe the towing fiasco you described though... that sounds legit.

um, i dont know you, so i dont really care what you think. u can take what i say as truth or leave it. never got it to 45k. it was 30k over 8 years. most people on this site know i don't bs. i don't have the time to, nor would i care to do so. I bought it in 1999. you honestly think it's that hard to put less than 4k into a car per year??

you talk about me trying to sell it, do you not get that i was trying to donate it to a charity?? maybe you missed that. my wife's family works with the special olympics in CT. i would rather have given it to them.
it just became a mess. maybe you didn't see also that the REASON it was towed in the first place was b/c i had taken the plates off. i had also killed the insurance. the car was unregistered and uninsured. it couldn't be parked on the city street. so, even if i paid to take it back, i couldnt TAKE IT ANYWHERE. hence the reason i said i was screwed either way. what would you suggest, that i go to the registry and re-register the car? re-insure it? just so i could take it back to give it to the charity? yeah, that would have made sense. since the original tow guys were such asses, I wouldnt give them the satisfaction of letting them have the car, which is why I had someone else take it. The charity wouldn't take the car directly from the lot, and the guys were already being very uncooperative at the tow lot, so there was nothing I could do about it.

none of this has anything to do with my selling the car or not. i didnt need the money, though the tax write-off for charity would have been nice, but i wanted to do something good.

edit: i redid this pic in paint, and hosting it on image shack. i dunno if it will work, but here goes.....

oh, and that APC thing was gone after 2005

Next time you feel like donating "$30k" over 8 years to charity, give me your bank information. I'll set up direct deposit out of your account in the Tyler Fund over 8 years.

kthnxbye
