That's good! The exhaust on the Miata is Jackson Racing (from the header back), and it certainly doesn't sound like a rice burner either, and we're only talking a 1.8 4 cylinder!

the KL can sound like a tuned supra with a mild exhaust, and almost exotic when really opened up.

One of my favorite sounding engines, in fact.

Awesome to see somone so excited about owning an MX6. It's the best car I have ever owned and I'm going to start my first AX season in about a month.

I allready know it's modded to much for the stock class and it's definitely not fast enough to win in the other classes but I wont even consider racing for points till next season.

There are all kinds of mods available for these cars and tons of parts both OE and aftermarket will fit from other cars like the 99+ protege and 98+ 626.

If you race in the stock class where stock sized wheels are required and dont want to drop a G or more on wheels try Millenia 9 spoke wheels. They are the same size as stock LS wheels but lighter.

What ever bracing you can run in your class will make a big difference. try to find a solid bar like the ones King 6 built. They are much more effective than the adjustable ones that pivot at the ends.

LOL I was just thinking about that car. When your husband wrecks the 6 and the miata 1.8 pops do that^

Technically we are already out of the stock class since the car has a short throw shifter and no cat, although another G-stock competitor said he'd be willing to overlook it until my husband starts beating him! Do I understand that the offset of the '6 is also the same as various honda's and of course the probes? We need an additional set to put the slicks on. We've got a couple of used 15 inch tires that I didn't quite burn off all the way last season.... My husband bought me new slicks for Valentines Day (best V-day gift I ever got!).

Thanks for the advice on the bracing, the adjustable ones seem "flimsy."

I'm not sure if I should post this elsewhere, but this morning when I heard Scotty leave the house with the '6 at 5:00 a.m., I heard a belt squeaking realy loudly! So obnoxious. At first thought I was thinking serpentine belt. But the last owner's claimed they just had it replaced. Any thoughts?

mine does the same thing. Just tighten the belt tensionor on the top. That should quite if not stop the belt squeeling.

Have you made a decision on which class you will be running? There are a lot of suggestions for the car (that are somewhat all over the map), knowing what the focus of the car will be would streamline the responses a bit.

Also knowing just how far you wish to take the car would help. Will it be a local racer or will it morph into something for the national scene? Amount of time/effort/money willing to invest? The car does have some history of success in the late 90s, but time has marched on in a lot of ways.

PS: the belt probably was changed, but not adjusted well.

That belt could have just been wet from all the snow we are getting here in Indiana. Nothing to get worked up about.

That is one snazzy looking miata you got there.

Thank you! It's my "baby." I've had it since I was 16, and have changed "purposes" for it several times: first to a show car (ever been to Indy Bash?) and then when I realized how much I hate cleaning the darn thing and painting it everytime I got a scratch, I started racing it, first street race (bad bad bad angie) and then drag racing and now autox.

For the upcoming season, the plan is to run it in G-Stock but work towards building the car towards STX and then in a few years possibly into DSP. But deffinetly not planning to keep it in G-Stock since its an older car and it seems that older cars are not competitive in stock categories and need a little "help" from an intake and exhaust sytem. The main purpose is to be a local racer, traveling to adjacent regions, I don't think we're even ready to think about competing at a national level. As far as money to invest, its hard to say, we've got about a grand to play with now, but like I said want to keep it in G-Stock for atleast this season.

About the exhaust tone, my mods are listed in my sig. The muffler is just a local muffler shop stainless twin 3" tip special.

My co-workers can hear me coming half way down the block, but every single one of them said they love the sound of my car. The KL is a real good singer.

Mods: KLZE, SSAC Headers, 2.5" Catback, CAI, Stainless clutch line, Engine mount inserts, ACT HDSS clutch, MX-3 flywheel, Chipped ECU, J-Specs w/HID, K-Sport coilovers, RSTB, FSTB, Addco 22mm RSB, Clear side markers
Not installed yet: HEI module

ill see about posting a clip of mine in car and from the outside, i got a pretty generic muffler, but with the intake and headers, it really makes a nice tone
