MX-6 Racing in UK
I'm a mature student at Derby University- University of Derby - Motorsport
I have been joined by two other students on the same course for a second year project of obtaining an MX-6 and preparing it to race in pre 1993 Classic Touring Cars series in the UK. The CTCS details can be found at The Classic Touring Car Racing Club ~ We have just bought a 1993 MX-6 which was a Japanese import to the UK so it has the ZE, 4WS and no sunroof, now we have to get it ready to race against BMW M3s and VW Corrada Storms. The rules which you can download from the CTCC web site are fairly precise. We can reduce the cars weight by 10% from the lowest official kerb weight to be found worldwide. Currently we have 1195 kgs but if you know of any country who had a lower weight please let me know. So weight wise we are looking at 1000 kgs excluding driver in full race trim. I am informed that to compete with the M3s etc we need at least 270 hp. So again any suggestion please feel free. It has to be NA. Anyone who has experimented with wheel rim and tyre sizes can you let me know your thoughts on it please. It seems that Tikco Advance Handling Kit seems appropriate but any advice on strut bar for front and rear gratefully received. Lastly as students we are not wading in wealth but we do have use of the university workshops for lathes, milling, CNC and CCM, foundry, rolling road, dyno room etc. If anyone knows how I can get in touch with Mazdaspeed let me know. I look forward to hearing from you. Brgds Dave Hunter UoD UK |
