Street racers Anonymous

You know today I had a little experience... and you know someone had asked me what is the point of having a fast car... just to race? I've been thinking about this for a while and I came to a realization today... I race everyday... every single day every chance I get... I do I wont lie Howmany of you do as well?

What is a race? Racing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

now are you a racer?

I've been thinking I mean honestly a high powered car has alot of uses outside of traditional racing.... and it can still be concidered racing lol

Now today I was a little late for work.. ok I lied Iw as alot late.. and I was in a hell of a hurry so there is this intersection that I always skip traffic on...

the blue is generaly my path. Red is where the street closes and you need to merge back onto the main.

well its not very clear but basically thatsa 2 lane street that converts into a 3 lane for the intersection than closes again . but the right lanes are always empty except for a couple of people making right turns which usualy clears up before the light turns...

Except ofcourse when there's an .... like me haha what I do is I will get on the right and launch when the light turns green and than go in before the street closes and I always do this and I tend to skip alot of traffic this way but ofcourse I need to launch it to beat the traffic and get into the main lanes... its my little drag strip if you will... and today the light was green before I got there but it had just turned green I entered my favorite strip than I pushed the trottle hard.. and trapped 75 before passing and entering into the main lanes.. I gotta admit it was fun racing those cars even though they didnt know they were being raced... and I started to think I do this every day and in many different ocasions... I race people in everyday driving... had I been in my old 626. I don't think I would of even tried that..

Small little things like this .. when you race someone to the line so you're first in the light...when You're making a left across a 3 lane highway and you pick that perfect moment as the car is passing and you make it just before the other car.... whne you need to make a right .. who waits for the green light? are you not racing the incomming cars? somany ocasions when we race and we don't know it.. and than I think well there is a point to having a fast car.. thats more than just beating civics... in a straight away...

and all I have to say is My name is Tem.. and I'm addicted to racing .. I may not be very good at it but none the less .. I am a raceaholic.. and I dont want to be cured.

Everything thats dangerous is Fun! But not everything thats fun is dangerous!

I think stating that right on red as racing is a bit of a stretch. I can see what you're saying for almost all of the other situations, but I think that is a bit of a stretch as a race too. I just think thats more like driving like an ass.

Street racing, IMO atleast, is either going to be a drag from a stop light or a race from a roll between you and another car. Almost all the other situations you described resembled more of just speeding and wreckless driving.

my 2 cents.

I'm not saying I've never driven like that, I'm just sayin in the eyes of the law that is considered wreckless driving, not street racing.

After the accident I was just in, I've had a bit of a change of perspective of driving, safety, and I've lost that "won't happen to me" feeling. Doubt I'll be driving so carelessly anymore.

you won't want to be cured until you kill somebody and they suspend your license for a couple years and you have to live with the guilt of taking somebody's life for no reason other than to prove how small you dick is...i mean how slow your car is...lol

i used to be a lot more aggressive on the roads than i am now...its just not worth it.

you can race or drive recklessly and get to work 30 seconds earlier...you're still late so what difference does it make other than that you probably came close to ending peoples lives.

i know how you feel about that but learn to control yourself and vent it at the proper location (AT THE TRACK)....before its too late and you make the papers for the wrong reason

well everyone is like that after an accident .. trust me... and also there is truely wreckless driving that I have done aswell.. and I'm not proud of ...

Not to long ago I took a road trip.. on the return trip I was tired and I wanted to get home asap.. and I was stuck behind this Semi.. and so were about 20 otehr cars all lined up behind me i was the one right behind him per say. and I was really desperate.. every little while I would drift to the left to see if there was a chance I could pass him. and every time there would be a car at a distance.. and than one of those i said [fizzle] it.. I dropped a gear than went ot the side.. and it felt like I couldnt move I was stuck there asoon as i moved out I was stuck in the wall of air since i Was behind the semi it would shield me .. so I went back in.. I tried this once more. when I saw I had a chance... and same effect that car would slow down and would have some trouble passing him ... so the truck was going at 55.... so what I did was I decided I needed to build up momentum.. I let there be some seperation between me and the semi than when isaw a chance I hit it and than as I was closing up I went into the other lane and this worked the car's built up momentum pushed me but it all seemed slow and there was an oncomming truck and by then I was almost to the acctual truck.. and I looked forward and I just said to myself this isnt worth it.. I let go of the accel and went back in where I was.. after a couple of seconds the semi passed me I problalby would of had enough time to do it but that was wreckless... it wasn't worth it even if I had enough time.. about 1 minute after that the ( Passing zone ) sign came up.. there are limmits

if you think about it had the car behind me moved up and locked me out my only choice would of been to go off the road to the left onto the dirt. at 90 miles an hour.. yeah that would of been pleasent...

well there's a limmit you know. its not like I drive at 90 mph every day on a 40 mph road..

and I guess I made this thread a little out of context I was just pointing out ways in which a sports car is usefull in everyday situations.. I was acctualy exagerating in some of the post

"I race everyday... every single day every chance I get " by that I mean I take advantage of things when I can. if the light is green I will speed up to make sure I make it but if it turns yellow and i'm not right there I will stop the car I wont risk it for no good reason than to save 30 seconds of red light... lol I guess I made this thread seem like OH I LIKE TO RACE! but I was just trying to point out where a fast car is handy in daily driving situations. LOL

I can see your point of view, but you're most likely only going to read people disagreeing or flaming you.

everyone is entitiled to their opinion.. I enjoy driving the car.. thats why I spend money on it.. thats why I want to fix it up and race with it... I like playing with the car launching it to pass other cars. and enjoying my drive. oh and there is no law against accelerating quickly ( just need to know when to letgo of the throttle ) again if you really feel you need to flame than by all means I mean its in your rights to do so.. and I wont hate you for it...

My friend actually got ticketed for 'aggressive driving' or 'excessive acceleration' or something like that because he was too quick off a stoplight. So i think there may not be a law directly against it, but that doesn't mean you won't get a ticket for it.

actually there is a law against it.. most states have an "exhibition of exceleration" category. It can also be lumped in with other offenses.

you haven't actually posted a race. All you've done is show us a scenario where you're "that douchebag" who cuts the intersection from the right lane. You've also admitted to being not just an occasional douchebag, but instead, a rather constant one.

thread closed for excessive pointlessness.
