My parents just surprised me today with their brand new yellow (hurl) Nissan SE-R. I got to drive it home from the dealership and i was pleasantly surprised by the speed and handling. Its a 6-speed 2.5L 4 stroke, with a nice suspension package (tower and struts, dont kno the shocks or springs yet), but it will fly. My step dad bought it strictly for autox though so i cant drive it except every month. But besides the color, I really like these cars and just thought I'd share with everyone else cuz I have nothing else to do.
Those cars a very fast for a non turbo 4cyl. they have loads of torque and enough horspower also.
did he get the one with the Rockford sound system that dont sound all that great?? i actually know a lot of people with those cars. they seem to be popular, but I would rather have the older 2 door modles.
one of my friends that has and SE-R use to have a 1990 Mazda 626, how odd
yeah its pretty fast but for some reason my family never buys a turbocharged car. i dont kno why cuz we all want one. ive got a 93/LS 6, my mom has a 00' miata, and my step dad has gone from a 93' miata (very fast n/a) to a 96' 3000 gt (the base model FWD 6 cyl) to the se-r. but no, he didnt get rockford fosgate package. i tried to convince him but hes not too big on audio, just performance. i dont kno if they have a sports package or anything, but his has all the suspension mods. i guess all se-r v specs come that way. i havent had much time to thoroughly inspect the car yet.
Theres only 2 modles of the SE-R, they have the SE-R and the SE-R Spec V. the normal SE-R doent have that many options.
the Spec V has the option of the Lava Red Interior (i think looks great with a black exterior), and the Rockford sound. which doesnt sound all that great.
if you get the Spec V, you automatically get limited slip diff. with a 6speed and the even better sport suspension. along with the 17in wheels.
The SE-R you get everything with the normaly Sentra, along with 16in wheels, sport tuned suspension and a premium sound (not Rockford although i think you can get it??
and they also have all these other options
the thing i noticed that people complain about the most in the Spec V is that the redline is like a smug before the revlimiter, so when you do want to have fun you have to shift as fast as possible. or your fun will be screwed by the rev limiter.
my friend has one. its pretty nice but here are my main complaints:
[shizzle] gas mpg (my V-6 maxima gets better mpg than his 4cyc...wtf?)
low low LOW redline...6100 i believe..
other than that, i love the thing. it handles awesome stock! (even has a strut bar and polyurethane bushings stock!) gobs and gobs of torque, lsd, nice styling, sweet rims.
he didn't get the fosgate package; which was a good thing because it sounded like crap.
yea my brother just got the yellow 03' spec v and i must say it is very nice with the 6 speed and the punch system does kinda suck i think the car over all has good potential to be fast with either a swap or it looks like there is plenty of room in the engine for a turbo or s/c and the limited slip is nuts it would look sick with a skyline kit on it

one of the things i hate about it is how high it sits off the ground. they need to be lowered alot to look good and perform a little better. at an autox we raced it for the first time a couple days ago and the inside rear tires come off the ground so easily during sharp turns. but other than that i cant really complain.
