Buying Guidelines

Buying Guidelines

The following information is provided as a recommendation. As always, MX6.com can not be held responsible for getting ripped off. When buying online, you are on your own. If you get ripped off, then we can not help you. Please use the following guidelines to help protect yourself.

Please consider the following guidelines when making purchases on MX6.com:
1) Review Seller Ratings
Click on the small number below a person's name to determine thier Seller Rating. Review the comments and history to determine not only how well they were rated, but how many trasnactions they have been involved in and how long they have been selling.

2) Leave Feedback
Please leave feedback every time you have a transaction. This will allow everyone to benefit from viewing the history of each seller.

3) DO NOT SEND CASH
Always use a secure payment method when purchasing from someone. Anyone not willing to use such a means may be trying to scam you. If they are not set up to use secure payment methods then they are not set up to perform legitimate business.

For purchases under $500, use PayPal.
Be sure to only buy from verified sellers. You can pay with your bank account or with a credit card and they offer free payment protection up to $500. Payment protection is only available under certain circumstances. Please review PayPal's policies for more details.

For purchases over $500 with a company, use a Credit Card with payment/fraud protection.
All of the major credit cards offer programs for online fraud protection. Some come with the card automatically, some you have to apply for. Be sure to review the policy and protection limits before making the purchase.

For purchases over $500 with an individual, use an escrow service.
Escrow.com is a reputable escrow service. Sure it costs a little money, but this way you are completely protected.
Anyone not willing to use a reputable escrow service for a large purchase is not worth dealing with.

4) Take precautions when using a credit card online.
Make sure the company you are dealing with is reputable.
Make sure that the page is secure (a lock or key will appear at the bottom of the browser window).

5) When dealing with an individual, make sure you can contact the person.
If you are buying a part from an individual, make sure you have a means to contact them other than via the Internet. If they give you a phone number, call it to make sure it is for real before you send them money.

If you have any suggestions for additions to these guidelines, please post in the Comments & Questions forum.
