Its over a year old and was recently resurected and I have recieved nearly 50 karma points in the past week or so from that thread ..

So if the 6 month thing is in effect .. does that mean I wont get anymore karma for that thread ? If so I think that sucks !
Ok on this .. Does the 6 month limit come from the 1st post or the last post made ?

Becaues if its the last post that wouldnt be so bad ..

This also goes to who thinks/decides threads should be sticky ?

Because many people have posted that they think my thread should be .. and with the amount of karma I recieved for the research I did it leads me to believe its helpful enough that it should be ...

just a thought as well ..

I'm assuming it would be 6 months from the actual post (The post not the thread). Each post is time/day stamped and after 6 months you won't be able to give karma for that particular post.

I am not sure, but I will look into it. I agree that threads in the project forums should be able to receive karma forever..

I just gave someone karma since the forum was switched over. I'm not fond of the confirmation popup that follows. First time it was alright but it gets kind of annoying afterward. Clicking "ok" seems like an unnecessary extra step.

Although, if each time it was a random message then it would be kind of interesting.

edit: It is weird how quickly I've gotten use to the forum. I really like the new quick reply and the editing ones post. It really does make browsing the site faster.

what exactly does the power mean, like mine says "Total: 40 Power:5" but some people who have Total like 300+ or so only have Power of 3.

The power is how many points you give other people. If you give me karma, then my karma will increase by whatever your power rating is.

From what I've seen, power rating is heavily calculated from how long you have been a member of the forums. Although it is also based on your post count and karma points but mainly how long you've been a member.

Total is how much karma other people have given you.

I was just going to bring that up as well. A majority of the 1G projects are my project threads. Every once in awhile I'll get one on the clutch install, axles, turbo, etc.

So this is also going to make it alot harder for people to climb up the karma ladder...

Intresting concept, and i have to agree about that popup notification after sending karma.

Not really. This will actually speed it up. I just leveled the playing field a bit.
The vast majority of people giving karma had low power (1-2) now peoples karma levels increase more quickly but cap at a lower level. So we haev a lot more people with a power of 5 and the very few people who were over 5 are now at 5.

That is true, when I receive karma, it is usually only valued at 1 or 2.

Out of curiosity, what is the maximum amount of karma one can have. (At what point do you no longer get new gems).

As far as accumulating karma, there is no limit, though the gems are worth more the higher you go.
