Bypassing anti-spam noob restrictions for known new members

Hi, I don't know if this is possible/feasible, but I'd like this thread to exist for people to vouch for new members such that they can have unrestricted access earlier when they are known to be good.

current examples are :

http://www.mx6.com/forums/members/egonn.html
http://www.mx6.com/forums/members/LostSoulMiata.html

If they can be de-noobed that would be good, yesterday egonn was trying to post a link to a youtube vid of his mean fe3 itb swapped mx5 and couldn't. I had to do it for him. He's been around long enough behind the scenes IMO. Ditto LostSoul.

Is this possible?

Fred.

Plenty of new members who obviously are here for the cars and not to sell mobile phones cant provide links etc as Fredio mentioned. Happens in Aussie section quite a bit. Just adding my thoughts.

New Members can post links, it is just that the system flags it for approval by a moderator.
This is the only means to prevent spammers from taking over the site.

It only takes a few posts and couple of days before they are no longer flagged.

I understand the reasons behind it, but is it possible to manually un-flag them? It's a bit off-putting from their point of view. I had this on PT the other day, I just headed to the "kills" and "pictures" sections and did the spamming myself to hit 25 posts so I could flick up some links... more pointless posts that weren't worth reading "wow, cool car!" etc :-) Is that what you want? I guess not too many people would do that though...

I agreed, but it only requires 5 posts and 1 day...

I understand where you are coming from. We wanted the limits to be very low.
We only want to prevent spammers from posting anything.
Spammers typically register one day then come back another day and post between 1 and 5 spam messages. If we lower the limit, then these messages would appear until found and removed.
It is tough to balance between allowing legit members to post and preventing spam.
