Had a call from Mark... (Elmerfud)
He didn't make it far as broke down on the M5 near Bristol.. He called me from the AA guy's phone, as his was flat. Apparently, the AA guy traced it to the rotor arm moving on its shaft.. we normally have a hexagonal shaft in the dizzy, but mark has a round one, with a flat on one side.. the rotor arm he has is the normal hexagonal type.. My advice... use some araldite and glue it in place as a temporary measure.. Looks like it worked, as I had a txt from him saying he is on his way home.. It's alright when you have to tell the AA how to fix a car ![]() John |

Hi all.
I had a great time!!!!! On Sunday, I made it to J20 on the M4 and had to call the AA after a distributor fault at 1015. Got the car onto an AA truck and was put down at a car park near M5. (Anyone that was there will know I had no mobile charger with me and was running out of juice. So, my mobile phone was dead by this time). AA said I needed a new rotor arm and that the one fitted was wrong for the car because the arm had a hex fitting and the hub was round with a flat spot. Using the AA guy's phone, we tried to get local autofactors, that he knew, to open shop and see if he had a part for me - but no luck. Called Russ and Parralex for any members nearby who might have the rotor arm - also called Einstien and left a message. Parralex gave me Mazda1109's number, who had lots of spares, but didn't need it because Einstien called back and Einstien, as I described the problem with my head under the bonnet, said that there was nothing wrong with the rotor (it was just worn). I made it home in 5.45hrs at 1945 roughly 415 miles, avg 76mph with stops thanks to a temp fix as advised by our very own Einstien - a composite glue used to keep the rotor arm in place..... Engine seemed to run better after we did it! Was good to meet all of you. My thx: Mark & Julie for their thunder grey Jspec and putting up with me at the hotel, Simon & partner for their Gumball Rally 3000 decal attracting so many comments and being a sound, fellow martial arts dude, Paul for his dedication to the club display and making me feel welcome, Nasher and Mike (not sure of the names). Kyle for creating an MX5 turbo 'sleeper' and being a consummate 'grease monkey', Parallex for introducing me to his friends and giving me a tango, Russ and his son for being a great laugh, Einstien for his 'kiss my ring' session, Craig with his orange beast and thx to all for my award in making what was a worth while journey. Cya all nxt year. Elmer Last edited by ElmerFud : 5-18-08 at 16:09. |

I'll get some pics up!
Sorry for the late reply. Worked from Sunday evening through to this afternoon! Yup, Enjoyed surprising a TT and an old M3 cabriolet on the way home, but the best bit of the journey was 80 miles right on the tail of a 300ZX who couldn't quite understand how I kept up ![]() Got around 235-245 miles to the tank, compared with around 300 before mods. Alien, as a responsible Moderator, sends his apologies for his absence. Something to do with being forgotten in the loft... oops.Elmer, nuff rispec, blud, for making that trip! Kind of enjoyed the HID glare in the mirror, and your finishing my 3am-shot nerves off with a horn blast as we said adios on the roundabout! looking forward to meeting you again.Ken, very good to see you again. Hope we can catch up again soon. Lee, sorry to hear about your day. Was it a record for MX-6s breaking down on the motorways that day?! I think the guys dropped the car off and disappeared straight away while I was off looking around. Nasher, sorry to have missed you. Didn't even know you were there until someone mentioned you'd left! Kyle, I'd only heard about your accident - great to see you back, and as able as ever to climb all over the engine bay, effortlessly tweaking bits none of the rest of us (oh, only me then?) have a clue about! |

Oh look... we did have a meeting time ![]() Sorry I didn't meet you mate... looks like we kept missing each other. I had my little lad to entertain (although the PSP did quite a good job) so couldn't stand around for too long. I'll sort out my pictures soon... time has been a bit limited recently. Russ |

Yeh me and Nasher knew you were meeting in Chips but we are from Gloucester and that would have mean't going further than we needed too.Plus it was to early HA HA. Living close to combe has its advantages. Its a shame we did'nt get together,I did'nt realise there was so much to look at which kept us away from the stand for so long.I think my favorite car of the day was the red with black bonnet Datsun 240z.He was out in evey session by the looks of it and boy could he drive it.Also the White Evo that was a pure track car, that was bloody quick. We had a great day can't wat till next year when hopefully will have crack at driving the track.

![]() The R35 was a no-show. TBH, I didn't think much of the so-called Redline Power Stand at all. ![]() |
