Aah... anyone else feel that tingling feeling of a F1 season about to get underway?

Thanks Paula, great links.. (SA 'puters think they are in the UK so no hassles here...)

Braun GP = I am happy for the "Honda" boys in that most of them dont get to loose their jobs. I also think with Ross Braun's know-how and a Mc Laren motor, they will be more competitive than last year. Anyone know who their title sponsor is yet?

As much as I hate to say it - I think Alonso will take it this year...

I hear that number of wins will decide the title. Points only come into play if the wins are equal...

Comments?

Just because somebody wins more races it doesn't necessarily them a better driver, I preferred the old points system where the more consistent driver is rewarded with the drivers championship.

Maybe they should introduce a system that if you win a race you have to start at the back for the next race

Or better still they have to race in the opposite direction

Surname and lineage doesnt make you a great racer...!

Grin

Well Brawn GP have set fantastic times in testing.

Ross Brawn and top designer Adrian Newey seem to have a very good car.

Can't wait till Melbourne and Hooray............"The Chain" by Fleetwood Mac is back as BBC's F1 Signature Tune ...........

Have a listen: The theme is at 2:54

Cheers Dave ....

As soon as I heard "The Chain" on BBC's adverts for Melbourne, the old tingle returned and thank God.....No more adverts at the crucial moment ....

No, but it does help one get backing, training, cash, whatever.

Hill, Villeneauve, Piquet, Sheckter, Rosberg (and probably several others) come to mind. These guys all sired decent racers (If you exclude Hill)

Hes not that bad in his little ginetta, does make some crazy mistakes sometimes though. But thats youth for you.

Not sure about the GP this year but will wait to see what the first race brings then make my mind up regarding all the rule changes. Looking forward to it though so hope its not a dissapointment.

Well, I hope nobody here was looking forward to the new points system because it's been canned already!

Apparently the FIA neglected to check whether or not they were allowed to change the rules so close to the start of the season. They weren't...

^ Best news of the year IMHO

I rekon they could make wins JUST as important if they only increased the points margins between 1st and 2nd - I believe this is being done? 12 for a win? Something like that?

If the margin of difference is about 5 points, then it would still make a DNF very important. This way a dominant driver would definately win the season but would not let him relax too much.

How ugly are some of these cars? waited to see them in action before passing judgement.

The new Brawn has to be the most pig ugly very closely followed by Renault. Colours are awful.

Hate the front wings on most of the cars, they all look awful from the front.

Best looking I think is the Mclaren and Ferrari cars but to look at the're all a big diasapointment.

On a plus point some of them sound lovely.

Fingers crossed I'll get used to to looks and enjoy the season.

they do look a bit "cartoon" like TBH. Like some of the experimental car styles of the 70's and 80's.

Nice to see the drivers having to "drive" for once, rather than push buttons and hang on. lots of rear ends stepping out in practice.

Lewis who?

Just want to say that after todays qualifying this is the 1st time i've looked forward to a season of F1 for years.

The cars are really allowing the more natural drivers to show what they can do and guys like Rubens and Jenson are using their opportunity.

The grid shows drivers with natural ability rather than those who have relied on driver aids although i'm suprised by Alonso's lack of performace.

Cant wait to see how the race, and season pan out.
