Old Hall was not as daunting as I imagined (at least not at my speed ) but the run down to cascades increased the heart rate
I could not believe the banking on Shell Oils and Brittens I found tricky as it's just over a brow.
The run up to Clay Hill is awesome and Druids is very tricky to get right.
Through Lodge and then the dip into Deer Leap then onto the pit striaght, awesome
If the weather is fair for the August bank holiday I intend to go to the Gold Cup meeting at OP and watch some of the historic cars racing.
Found out the brake problem is the o/s/r caliper is going out of adjustment. I have just been under the car and was able to adjust the handbrake by about 1.5 turns on the Allen key
Guess I need to strip one of the spare calipers, fit new seals and then change it over.
Sounds great way of getting use to the track day thingy.
After going on track with Piers14 I realised I how far out of the 'track day boy's' league I was!!
When I get my car going in a straight line without those bum clenching twitches I would't mind a go.
First real trackday I did was a VXR day. Had proffesional drivers in the cars with you, giving you great tips on lines and getting the most out of the car. Would suggest something similar, rather than going out alone and you'll be amazed at how fast you will be able to drive on track. When I first went out I was driven by one of the instructors to show me thruxton and he was having a laugh with his mate and scared the hell out of me. Thought there is no way I'll get anywhere near this pace, I was wrong.
Been a couple of times now and I'm pretty compitent on track, would love to take my own car out on my own now. And yes I am as good as I thought I was.

Hate to think I put you off taking part in trackdays.. You'd be suprised how you'd lift your game when you get on track.. I've been doing it for a while so don't judge yourself by others.. It's fantastic fun and very addictive...

You didn’t put me off...in fact very far from it!!
Seeing and being in an MX6 being pushed to the limits is an experience all owners should have.
Once I’m happy with the way mine is running I would probably have a go on track but like you said ‘it can be addictive’!! And in my experience anything that I have found addictive also cost me a lot of money!!!
Thats why the track time at events like japfest are good. You can as we did book the track for the club only for a while to have a good time knowing you dont have the fiesta boys trying to cut you up!!!
Maybe an mx6 only session somewhere should be looked in to.
hmmm
...............you dont stop laughing because you grow old, ..you grow old because you stop laughing.....
I had better save up for replacement front tyres if we do.
Back in the 80's I took an Austin Metro to a Track Day at Goodwood Race Circuit and I wore the front tyres almost to the canvas and nearly ran out of fuel.
It was organised by the MG Car Club and we had unlimited laps until either the car came off the track, it ran out of fuel ( like I nearly did ) or it blew up .....
A guy in a gorgeous Sunbeam Tiger stuffed it into the bank at the end of the Pit Straight and some prat hired a Ferrari for the day and also damaged it quite seriously.
Of course, the condition of the hire was no racing or rallying etc.
So he and his mates got it towed to a few miles away from the circuit and told the insurance company and hire company that he had the accident on the public highway.
I never did find out what happened.....
But I can take a guess .... and
Paul

I'd love to arrange a get together for all of us to have a go BUT after an hour searching on the net I can only find complete trackday events, like open pitlane stuff for £150 a car.
I would be grateful if you could could give any info possible so I can look into it. Would love to do this at Oulton or Cadwell.
