its clunk time, I mean crunch time. My MX6 is back int he garage for round number two. First garage didnt find the problem, they apparently re seated the suspension cup and figured that was it, well, it wasnt, so garage number two's turn now!
should find out a little later today and will let you know, please cross your fingers for me!!
This is post is a good advert for Parallex's 'get together' thread.
I'm pretty sure if we had had the chance to get these 'clunk' cars at a club workshop meet we would have this solved by now, well if not solved loads and loads of good ideas.
That's true - I've got a clunk, a rattle, a squeak, and most likely a steering system looser than my ex girlfriend. So any and / or all help would be highly appreciated.
i dotn have news yet, mech hasnt had chance to look, all i know is i just cannot wait to get her back and fixed! friday I will be getting some new door card clips from the scrappy, so with luck by the weekend i will be clunk and rattle free-ish!
actually, good idea, a get together would be a good idea for all us with these issues, knock a few ideas about, maybe even fix some...good idea that mate.
Good luck with that mate, a meet would be good, Holmfirth maybe?
I have another clunk although I think this one would be easily solved by a pair of wishbones (never been changed in 105k). Our road is now full of speed bumps (seperate thread coming up on that issue), as is the entrance to work so it magnifies it.

Rob, we will sort something out mate, would be good to meet for a brew.
as for yoru wishbones, i had both mine done last year (but because of a steering issues, not clunking), but over time i have replaced the whole lot underneath round there and its been great, just the shocks gone but thats probably a 106k on that one.
well, Mech been real busy, so not managed to fix it he said at first he couldnt find it grrr, but he took it for a quick drive and agreed he thought it was the shock absorber (which is what i think) so thats getting done Thursday (no car until then!). Cost wise I am looking at between £130-£150 the part costing approx £75 ish incl VAT which is about the same as two years ago wheni had the drivers side done (smae problem clunk, just didnt leave it quite as long)
so fingers crossed thats it because I really cant afford any more and I really want my baby back! Friday I have day off, so i am off to Coopers Spare for some door card clips (gonna get into all the mazdas and get as many as I can) so i am hoping that by friday I will have door cards sorted-no more wobbly and no more clunks!
A bit of advice regarding shocks.... if you replace one, you should replace the opposite side at the same time. Like brake pads which should always be replaced in pairs on either side.

i agree BUT the other side is quite new, when I first got the car, I had that one done and it has been fine, so I reckon it will be ok! I just simply cannot afford the two to be done right now, at least not when i have the choice!
yes, it was the shock absorber, some sort of damage to it meaning inside the casing it was a bit wobbly. Anyway, new one on, no more clunk and shes like a new car again!! Total cost £139, so thats £70 for shock, £50 labour and VAT (i normally pay cash, but cash machine was broke so £18 more than i would have paid!!)
Tomorrow I go to Cooper Bridge spares for some door card clips, if i can get some good ones, i might be able to clearup the rattly door card!
Next Monday BaBaKlunk enters the MOT shop to have the offside front wheel off and Graham will sand and polish the flange , the brake disc and most importantly the inside of the alloy wheel. He will also apply a thin film of grease to all surfaces and torque the wheel up as necessary.
