Well, it's done, and sorry to disappoint you all.....
The power gain with a single pipe from this firm is 15 BHP, maybe more. The gain reduction from a 'Y' joint to split it into a twin exit reduced the gain down to around 5 BHP. The extra cost of a dual pipe with tailpipe costs would be over £140. Finally, they couldn't do the cutting and welding work required to trim the spare wheel well enough to fit two identical pipes (I could have had a round one on the left, more towards the corner though, but it looked really dumb), and the exhaust HAd to be replaced today, as I've got a long drive tomorrow and a MOT retest booked for Thursday. SO, I've got (I think) a unique single tailpipe, which has given me a lovely bass tone and crescendo up to 4,000 revs. From there, it goes quiet, which is just dandy, as that's when my (sweeter, but in a different way) induction roar kicks in! Technical claims aside, I know it WILL help my fuel economy, as I'll be changing up at around 3 or 4,000 in order to keep hearing the exhaust note, instead of at 6xxx to ride the induction wave! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Do I want comments? Well...I can't exactly undo it! ![]() Last edited by Maputosimon : 7-29-03 at 21:29. |
