Dave Chapman's new wheels

Chapman7804 has asked me to post up his new wheels. He's the number 2 mechanic at the Streatham garage I recommended. There was a bit of an mx6.com convention at the garage today, and Dave was showing off his new wheels, and his induction kit, which looks a bit like...an induction kit, hence no photos.

He assures me that the wheels HAVE got tyres on and not just thick black paint or magic marker. To top it, he's getting the car LOWERED by 40mm in a day or three. He's thinking of SPAX coilovers while keeping stock shocks. Bear in mind, these pics are BEFORE lowering. Any advice for him, guys?

Dave is looking on here, just doesn't know how to post and host pics as yet...

My advice to him (speaking from experience) would be not to use his coilovers until he has upgraded his shocks.

My advice would be - DONT GO USE COILOVERS ON THEM THERE WHEELS!

AFAIK, 18" Alloys can't be lowered by much at all. Be very careful.

Its also the quality of the shocks that determines the ride, so be choosy!

I hope he's got a strong back.
Mind you, if he lowers it he won't have for much longer.

Well, he's finally seen the light and is asking which shocks would be good and asks prices and suppliers.

He's ended up getting 35mm Spax lowering springs, not fitted yet.

The wheels are 18x8J.

Comments?
