What a difference!!

Some of you might remember my car:

You might also remember that not long after I sold it, the new owner (Nick) had a rather unfortunate prang and wrecked the Style44 front bumper.

Needless to say I was a bit upset and, although Nick repaired the car, it was never quite the same seeing him drive around with a stock bumper on.

Just now there was a ring of the doorbell. When I answered, it was Nick with a big grin on his face.
"Come and look at this."

So I did:

He's done a fantastic job!

He kept it quiet too, hoping to surprise me.
Even my son Carl knew but hadn't said anything.

What do you think? I'm over the moon seeing it like that.

He's decatted it too. When he eventually pulled away there was almost a tear in my eye it sounded that nice.

That looks freakin' awesome! I'm sure that there will be parts that don't aesthetically appeal to everyone, but none the less it's nice to see someone to such a good job on an mx-6.

That's your old number plate on another car... come on Ken, spit it out, you bought another 6 now didn't you???? no????

Seriously, that is a huge transformation... paint, wheels, lights... totally transformed it, although your original red was just as nice..

He must be congratulated properly.. force.. er ask him to join if he hasn't already..

Don't worry, I reminded him (again) of the benefits of the Club.
He's definitely interested and said he's going to join up. Now he's got it almost finished he wants to show it off at a few meets.

It's certainly the same car John - that was my first thought too.
But when I checked the interior it was exactly the same as I remember it. Right down to the F.UK plate I put on the dash and the shift lights on the steering column.

I love the rear Supra style lights (obviously).
Not so keen on the angel eye fronts though. They match the looks beautifully, but wobble the same way Marty's did because of the lack of mountings on the bottom.

And the wheels! WOW
They're 18" Fuel 5's. Black spokes and polished fronts with Yokohama tyres.

Altogether a top job and easily the best MX6 I've ever seen.

Apparently Lin's first thought was "[shizzle] - he's going to want to buy it back now!" And I must admit, I was very tempted to make an offer there and then.

I agree Rash, Lexus lights are a big no no as far as i'm concerned. They will become the equivilent of fitting 3 spoke alloys in the 90's soon. I like the look of the halo fronts because the car is black and so are the housings but i've heard they are an aweful fit and the build quality is shocking.

The alloys are the dogs bits. When I saw the pics of Russels car I made the comment that his alloys are nice but a set with more detail would look better on a black 6. The alloys on this 6 are perfect and you cant take your eyes off them.

All in all, love the car, love the colour, bet you are chuffed to see someone taking care of it so well Ken.

Spoiler is a Mazdaspeed one. Good luck finding one out there.

As for the Lexus lights, each to their own I suppose. I must admit they don't look much cop on a red, white etc motor, but I love the look against the black car.

And yes, I am dead chuffed to see it looking so good.

Nick is a Merc mechanic in Poole.

Ken if I'm honest I prefer your version, although both look great. However, I think you got the edge with the camera angle!!! Either way both look great

Nice car Nick. I see when this thread started, they were "convincing" you to join, yet you have been around since 2003? Sly, very sly...
