No MX-6s but a Millennia - by Paula

Paula - I'm currently piggybacking on someone else's net connection so can't email directly, but the biggest size Photobucket will take is 600x800. Hope this is ok!

Many thanks for posting these shots.

Grin Details

Hi again everyone,

Before I saw this lovely example of the Millenia( which must be one of the last cars built ), I saw a white one on the Interstate and Gee, It went like a " Bat Out Of Hell ".

The car's 2.3litre Miller Cycle engine performs like a 3.3 litre V6.

Clever design and more economical than our 2.5 litre V6, although they say our mill is smoother.

This engine pushes out 210 bhp with similar torque. It does over 33 mpg on a run which is very good for a car of this ilk.

0-60 = 8.4 secs

Top Speed = 142mph

Pretty good eh?

Price new in the States was $36000.00 fully loaded which is £18,000 here ( at today's exchange rate )

That made it an expensive car for the USA but worth it, as it was a true luxury car.

The Mazda 6 replaced her when she went out of production in 2001/2.

They are rare now and the Xedos 9 ( it's sister ) is even rarer in the UK.

Anyone know of an Xedos 9 owned by someone on here...??

The build quality of this car is superb and matches any other similar car.

It was Mazda's plan to market this model as an Amati, like the upmarket Lexus brand of Toyota's..........But it did not happen.

Please note the parts that are the same as the MX 6.

The Fuel Lid cover and the Plastic Windsceen Washer jets on the hood ( bonnet ).

The lower half of the car's rear has that lovely squat look of our cars and the rear silencer looks the same. On the Interstate, it looked like a Sedan(Saloon) version of the MX 6.

The rear track seems similar too.

All in all a great car.

Enjoy...

Have a great weekend.

Paula

PS. There are styling similarities with the MX 6. Wonder if they both had the same designer?

Why 'tis Roland's big brother.

Saw a Xedos 9 in our local dealer when I had my Xedos 6. Very much a luxury cruiser in comparison. Bit of a Lexus look about it too.

Grin Hi Ken

Saw my local Mazda dealer's Service Manager today.

He had an Xedos 9 in for service the other day and he said that the Miller Cycle engine is awesome.

Upon acceleration, there is a constant push in the back all the way to the limit.

He would buy one to replace his BMW 5 series if he could get a nice one.
