Grin Another Japanese Coupe

Morning everyone,

Hope you all recovering from the Xmas festivities and are not nursing too many large hangovers ........

Anyway I spotted another 1990's Japanese coupe this morning where I live.

It's a pretty 'P' Reg Nissan 200SX with the remnants of a heavy frost.

I am getting close to having a full house soon.

We have a Mitsubishi FTO on our estate but it's covered up at present.....

I also hope to get a foto of the awesome Mitsubishi 3000.

I wish that the UK would get the lovely Mitsubishi Eclipse.

See loads of them 'Stateside' when I am there.....

The 90's must have been the " Golden Era " of Japanese coupes.

Here's the 1996/1997 Nissan 200SX - Enjoy

Hi Clive,

There ya go .....

Mitsubishi Eclipse - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

and 2009 version

Mitsubishi Motors - 2009 Eclipse

and this

Mitsubishi Eclipse Overview - Edmunds.com

Finally this is the main USA Mitsubsihi website.

Mitsubishi Motors - Home

The main draw of the Eclipse GT is its 265-hp, 3.8-liter V6. Now that's what I call POWER and all for US$ 29,995.00. Time that all our new cars came down in price. Hang on they are as dealers cannot shift cars anymore in Credit Crunch UK.......

and this ain't bad either for a 4 pot

The Eclipse GS is reasonably well equipped and comes with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine good for 162 horsepower.

Weird lol. The Eclipse in the states is thought of as an over weight posure car.

Better than the 3rd gen but still not what most real car people look at when at a Mitsu dealer.

1st and 2nd gens were popular untill the supply of unmolested turbo AWD versions dried up.

90 pontiac transam. 350 TPI motor new 24# injectors. Rebuilt trans. lots to come.

Hiya,

So which car do real car people buy in the USA?

I do see lots of Corvettes, Mustangs etc when I am over in Wisconsin and Chicago.

Nitey nite

Paula

PS. I see that 2000 -2004 Eclipse models had problems with the clearcoat seperating from the underlying paint especially Black cars.

Thanks Paula, I still perfer the late 90's model, but the new one does look pretty wild..ish.!!

Mike, nice pics, very nice indeed, you just dont see stuff liek that over here-big meaty motors parked on folk's driveways (because they would get nicked, or vandalised-oh, and the fact we dont have meaty cars like those over here-no space!)

Hi Dave,

I prefer the original Datsun 240Z.

See:

Nissan S30 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

£10K for a 260Z...........That's a lot of money.

One day when there are very few left, MX 6's will fetch a premium too.

Take care

Paula

Hi Paula,

Have to agree i also prefer the 240 but when you have 2 nippers to squeeze in the back it's not really an option.

Hey. Yeah Vettes F bodies and Mustangs are allways popular stateside. I own a 90 TransAm my self. The import scene has really taken a beating the last few years so 90's vintage jap cars are dropping in value except for the super thrifty ones like Swifts and CRX's.

But Civics are allways popular and I hear Hondas in general are "old folks" cars in the UK. The 2nd gen eclipse was the most popular used sport compact a decade ago but with clean un molested ones so rare and the remaining examples so unreliable they have fallen out of favor. Especialy since used EVO's and WRX's are affordable. I can get a nicely sorted EVO on craigslist for less than my neighbor is trying to sell his auto equipped 1st gen eclipse.

The Nissan 240SX (aka 180-200SX) was stupidly popular a while ago but those too have dropped in value with the decline of drifting stateside. And they also rust away just like the old Datsuns did.
