Hiya

Hi hon,

Well I looked at them briefly this afternoon and they are stainless steel or chrome and one is lockable ( this is a serrated hexagonal shape ).

So I assume that they are Mazda ones.

I will have to get my local Mazda dealer to look at them after the holidays as I don't take wheels off....

The inserts are 60mm so they fit perfectly.

Thank you for the info.

Happy Boxing Day.

Paula

The difference between the Mazda and Speedline ones, is that the Mazda ones DON'T have a "locating collar" about 5mm high at the narrow end of the tapering "dovetail" on the wheel nuts! This collar takes up a gap between the Speedline's alloy hole and the Mazda stud. Obviously, the Speedline nuts option would be safer but someone I know, who has Mazda nuts fitted, hasn't had any problems. The only way to check if your nuts is to unscrew them and inspect. ooer missus!

I'm curious, what diameter are the inserts featured in the photo above? it looks like they cover the whole 60mm... is this true? If their 56mm they would be a better optioin than I mentioned before.

Grin I think I have solved the problem

Hi everyone,

Happy New Year to you all.

I was shopping at Tesco's Brooklands today and I spotted a 94/98 Mazda 323F.

It had the 16" alloy wheels, so it must have been the 2.0i ZXI V6 24v model.

Anyway the wheel centres seemed identical to the one's on my '97 car that has the Speedline wheels.

These are the silver plastic type with the later logo, which must have been fitted at some point by a Mazda dealer. ( There was one missing on the MX6 when I bought it in February 2005, so T.W.Whites must have sourced it from another model ).

So next Tuesday, I will pop in to their Addlestone Service Dept and speak to Bob their Service Manager whose knowledge of Mazda cars is awesome.

I hope that these are the 60mm centres.

Will let you all know next week.

The wheel is also different to the earlier cars which, of course, had 15" wheels and 61/2JJ rims.

The later wheel centres had the word Mazda written on them whereas the earlier type had the old Mazda logo.

Anyway I gave the dealer the chassis number but the old wheel centres turned up which are smaller in diameter than the later ones and naturally they did not fit.

When we looked at the fish, the later wheels are not featured although they were a standard fit to the later cars......Grrrrrrrrrr

However on my '97 car, I have wheel centres which have the new Mazda logo on them.

So my question is, are the later wheel centres with Mazda written on them available somewhere and/or are the ones that I have on my wheels.

I assume that mine may come from another Mazda model.

Can anyone help please??

By the way Happy Christmas everyone

Nite

Paula

Smile Problem Solved

Hi everyone, especially wheel centreless ElmerFud !!!

I dropped into T.W.White & Sons this afternoon and I had a chat with Bob, their Service Manager who is the most helpful and knowledgeable Mazda guy that I know.

Anyway he checked his records and they ordered a set of wheel centres for my '97 MX 6 last February before I took delivery of her.

He had four left in stock and I bought them for my pal John's car with the same Speedline wheels as mine.

Apparently they are still available and are 60 mm in size.

These are the same ones fitted to my MX 6 that were shown on 25th Dec 05 ( courtesy of Stoatman ).

Now here's the interesting bit.

They are the same ones that were fitted to the 1994/1998 Mazda MX 5's with Mk1
Stealth Alloy Wheels. This is the MX 5 that has the pop-up headlights.

The Part number is: 810077266
Description: C/CAP (EMBSD) - MCAF 839
Price: £8.20 each inc VAT = £ 32.80 for Four

IMPORTANT:

John is coming round this weekend and we are going to fit them BUT before any of you order them, I will let you know on here that they do fit 100%.

I am sure that they do but I am always cautious.

Take care

Paula

Nice one Paula!

I take it the price is for centre caps with badges? The ones I got direct from Speedline are 60mm caps but with a 56mm recess with badge. The thing about the original ones is that they didn't have that ridge to reduce the badge diameter to 56, so with the ones you're ordering, the badge will look better because it'll fill out the 60mm.

Thumbs up Hi ElmerFud

Hiya,

Correct, the later Mazda logo is moulded into the plastic. ( see picture of my car posted here on 25th Dec 05 )

The price is all inclusive.

Due to the lousy weather yesterday, we did not fit them to John's car but I offered the new ones to those fitted to my car and they look identical in size etc.

So when we have a dry day, John and I will fit them.

Take care

Paula

Wheel Centre Update

Hi everyone,

When John had his wheels refurbished on Wednesday, the Wicked Wheels guy fitted the wheel centres that I obtained for him and yes, they are a perfect fit.

I am glad that he now has silver centres rather than the old ones which he painted black.....John's NOT mine.

Anyway have a great remainer of the weekend.

Today's ( Sunday ) GP form Bahrain should be exciting and great Schumi is back on top.

Nite

Nice one!

I've been in touch with a company in the states that does GT centre badges for Ford Mustangs GTs... I liked the look of them and bought them - black background and chrome GT on carbon fibre look vinyl.

Now I just need the wheels refurbished.

What did john get done to his? I think i read somewhere that you got black chrome done. What's it like? any pics? Is john's car black?

Smile Hi Fudster !!!

Have a look at John's post and replies on the UK Lounge forum posting 'Wizard Wheels'.

In fact he had the wheels reburbished by Wicked Wheels last Wednesday and the colour that he chose was a slightly darker shade of silver than original.

Apparently the colour is used by Audi.

John's car is Vintage Red ( ex-Steve's(Welton's) car)

I will take fotos next time that I see him unless his new SatNav fails again and he gets lost coming back today from Mallory Park....

Take care.
