For Sale: J-spec Mx-6 (KL-ZE 4WS) J-Reg

Okay guys, its time to sell the MX-6... I'd love to keep it, but i dont need any more cars or mx-6's at the moment (i have 4 now ) So this one has got to go... I'd sell one the red one but it is not in as good of shape as this one is and i feel i might be better off getting rid of this one to an MX6.com member. First ill start with the good then follow through to the bad (which isnt much) and then to the pics...

First off:

Mechanics: the mechanics of the car are great, little to no HLA noise since it does have only 56k on it. The transmission is fine shifts smooth. I just did a paper test to see if the VRIS system is working, it works great. I will also throw in a free oil change and tranny fluid change when bought. The car holds corners great for the stock suspension and the 4WS really sets the car off. The suspension is still very firm and will hold out for many years before needing any changeing or any attention, hell even the rear endlinks are still intact! Ive driven an average of 4 miles to work and back everyday, letting it warm up for 10-15 mins before leaving in the morning. A/C still works, i cant tell 100% since i havent owned the car in the summer . The battery will probably need to be changed in the next couple of months since it did die on me once... yesterday i checked the water levels and they were low, i replenished the water, charged her up, and havent had a problem yet... but if the buyer wants, i will buy a new battery on base at dollar amount for 50 quid, or however much it equals to get a new battery in £. One thing to note, is that the exhaust has a rust hole (exhaust leak) on the corner curve before the muffler (backbox). so that will need some attention before MOT, should not be much over 20 quid at a local shop...

Interior: Beautiful Cloth interior, no rips or tears, and im a non smoker . has the original floor mats which are still in okay condition. Has a non-fancy CD player, nothing insane with a 10" screen or anything. The rear speakers still have the waveguides in the trunk for that little bit of extra bass. i've heard that these were made by Bose, but i havent researched it. It also has sunroof, i have had no problems with it, ive only opened it up once or twice(ive only had it since the winter) and it opens up with no problems. The steering wheel is a bit knackered, rips in the leather and what not... lady owner must've worn some outlandish rings .

Exterior: The exterior is a beautiful silver, no fading as most 6's do in the states. Ill do a wax job before you come get it to make your jaw drop when you see it in person. has the stock 15" alloys, they are having issues with corrosion, but nothing that has bothered me. One thing to note, is that i have swapped the J-spec headlights with e-spec, and left the j-spec foglights in so they would keep their rotating functions. The taillights are also e-spec, nothing new or old with that. Stock exhaust, no 5" exhaust on it or anything. has a minor scrap on the front bumper, easy fix. Heres a bad point, okay, on the rear bumper pass. side, my wife backed into a small pole, (she couldnt see it) and rubbed the bumper and about a 1"X3" spot on the quarter panel. knocked the paint off and could use a respray on that bumper also.pics will be up...

Misc. Tax is good until Mar. MOT until May, should pass MOT with exhaust fixed and speedo fixed. I pulled the codes and i got a VSS. I looked at the VSS, but could not get it out to OHM check it to see if it was good. i resat the cables and it seemed to work for a little bit, but, still no help. My next train of thought was to pull the dash out to see what they did to make it read up to 180 MPH and not 180 KMH!! I know rasheedn was having this problem too, the speedo is off by about 20% and the KPH sign has a sticker over it that says MPH!! Maybe they changed the speedo gears to read different. maybe a new cluster will do the job. No clue, i havent even taken it apart. Also, i will throw in the deal, where any part needed that is swichable between the DE and ZE may be bought through an american company and shipped to me, and then forwarded to you... i will not pay for it, im just offering the deal to buy new mx-6 parts at american prices as i know UK prices are a little HIGH!

OK, now for the pics!!! Enjoy...

Meet the car.

Notice thefront bumper scrape.

From behind, nothing to point out really.

Notice the back bumper scrape...

Heres a close up of it. ouch...

From afar..my fav pic!

Pass. side view, nothing abnormal...

Driver side...again nothing to point out...

Notice the driver side seat, not a tear in it.what apears to be a burn hole is really some fluff.. dont mind... shes a bit dirty..

Speedo, 56k on the clock...

Time for a new steering wheel!

Stock ZE, nothing done to it... never been raced or revved.. just my daily driver...

O forgot to add, years of heat has hardened the 45, guessing the usual happened, someone was rough to it, it cracked, and they sealed a vacuum bye taping it... you can get a new one on ebay nowadays...

The trunk, with the original back seat mats...

OK, Phew that was alot to write! but i tried to open this thread in very well detail of what you are getting. im trying to get away from that whole "you shouldve asked before: type thing. I will also throw in a full tank of gas for the buyer. The car has been great to me...reluctant to sell it, but for a 20 year old kid with 4 mx-6's... insurance is getting up there... so she needs to go... Asking price 1200 ONO. I want to sell it to an MX6.com member only, or a friend of an MX6.com member. I always have an emotional attachment to my cars, and this is no different. (my wife just called me gay for saying that!!!) anywho, any remarks, questions, inquiries, thoughts, comments, ganders, moanings, screamings & wonders are as usual... welcomed and even encouraged! .

Mate if i had the money i would have bitten your arm off by now.

Unfortunately, money is a no go for me. Good luck with the sale - you dont need it cos this car is basically a winner.

Ben.

its nice, but i am a bit worried about it being an auto... plus money wise its quite a way out of my scope....

but....

if

a) I can find enough money for you

and

b) some of the mech chaps on here would help me do a TX swap in the summer.

then it sounds like I would probably be quite happy with it.

only problem i see is that its a 1992, i always found the '92 imports ridiculously hard to insure for some reason. What did you find when you insurred it?

Nice car! I think you'd be hard pushed to find another J plate with that sort of milleage on it, I'd say it's a very good buy for £1200 even with the work that needs doing. Best of luck on the sale, but as they say you won't need it.

Auto's can be fun, what you lose in 0-60 and bhp's you gain in having a more useable first gear and much quicker gear changes. I couldn't drive one long term though, my left leg would get bored!

Forgot to say, it can be nasty between gear changes because the auto box is short one gear so you'll probably find less power at the beginning of each gear.

Well as i said, you have dibs... honestly the insurance wasnt too bad... i have full coverage on 2 J REG j-specs and storage on another US spec and i think my total is at $160 a month... but then again my insurance is low cause im married. Only real problem i had was the insurance company couldnt find the VIN number since its not 19 numbers.. i sat and argued witht them for about 30 mins that the number i gave them, was the VIN number lol. Also, i will take a payment plan with a down payment of say 700 or so. but i will only take a payment plan through you guys..

Yea those are e-spec tails and heads... i took them off and put them on my other car. Ive never even used the rear foglight . actually there isnt even a switch on my j-specs for the rear foglight... but 56k on the clock...?? low mileage, lowest ive ever seen on any mx-6. i went to high school with a girl who had an RS with 59k.. and i freaked when i saw that .

I'm back home now.

Time for a post-purchase review. :P

Smooth enough jurney back... but getting close to home and hold light flashing, got me spooked but then the speedo went limp so I fanally saw the speedo problem justin spoke about.

Got back to my dads and he put a LOT of oil in it, topped up the TX fluid and filled her up with water as she was empty. She didnt like the oil very much I dont think, had a very rough tick-over but soon cleared.

Took the dash off, the switch moutings and ashtray are definately broken so hopefully gonna get them replaced in the next couple of weeks. Not sure what has been messed with on the speedo, but its definately not the speedo end that is dodgy causing the "limpness". Otherwise, everything else works ok, all buttons do what they should do, and climate control is working fine.

Then took a look at the ECU... got a strange electronic can strapped to the top of it, might be a delimiter or other such device... either way, I didnt get time to have a better look, will check it out tomorrow.

Engine seems fine, no stange emissions and knocks.
Steering is good, but tracking is off a wee bit.
A little bit of knocking on the offside front wheel, might be loose antiroll bar like my last one, but i'll check that out tomorrow.
Gearbox is not bad, slight slipping on 2/3 clutch band. Will need to get a tranny cooler on there asap. Kickdown is a very hard shift but working ok... not sure why it would be hard, might be nothing.

Im mostly impressed with the car, bodywork is pretty darn good, going to fix the little rust bubbles and missing paint tomorrow.

So, overall I think its not a bad buy, quite a few little thing to fix but hopefully shouldnt cost the earth and i'll have a nice car at the end of it.

Btw, the bose sound system / sub work beatifully and really do made the car sound very very nice. Got a very clear and powerfull sound with clarity at all ranges. Very impressed about that.

bibi 4 now

Luke
