Still searching for an MX-6

Where are all the decent mx-6s?, I have been looking for at least 2 months now since my 6 started to burn loads of oil, I would like either black, Noble Green or Silver, must be manual in good overall condition, leather would be nice but not essential, I have up to 1400 quid, there must be a good one out there somewhere?, if any one does know of one please bring it to my attention,..........I went and viewed one yesterday from autotrader which was 795 on an R plate in black.............what a load of Shizzle!!!!!!! the seller assured me that it was in fantastic condition with only a small noticeable repair on the back drivers quarter panel which tuned out to be full of filler which also spread half way down the door as well + the engine had the top of the air box and the filter missing????? he then tried to tell me that the thing that goes in and out when revving the engine was a performance air filter which mazda sometimes fit to some of there high end sports cars, WHAT THE $%^&, also all the spark plug wells were full of black oil, Not good + the advert said that it had 75,000 on the clock which turned out to be 110,000, to top all that off it took 6 1/2 hour to get there and back with the wife and kids, wife is still not happy, Please Please Jim fix it for me to get a decent 6 in my area soon!!!!!

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeellllllllllllllllllppppppppppppp,

Simon.

Thanks Windy + Elmer, I am certainly going to stick with the search but it does kind of take over your life somewhat, when I wasn't really looking there seemed to be loads on the market, always the way I suppose, the one you pointed out on pistonheads Windy would be great and I have considered it over the past few weeks but can't risk traveling all that way to find that its crap (wife would leave me) the other one on ebay has also attracted my attention but is also in Scotland and its an auto which I really don't want, thanks for that though!!!! I am checking ebay and autotrader and pistonheads and gumtree daily, if any one knows of any other sites please let me know,

Thanks Guys,

Simon.

Its the time of year mate. People won't be selling their cars now.

Give it a few months and there will be a glut of them just you wait and see.

Ben.

Hi Simon,

I saw that '97 plate in black down in Kent on Autotrader amd was half tempted, kinda glad I didnt check it out now. I noticed that the mileage on the advert went up from 75K to 110K.

The only other places I sometimes check are motors.co.uk and exchangeandmart.co.uk but there are very rarely any mx-6's on either site.

Sometimes its also worth checking the advert sites for newspapers like the EADT or those diamond free-ads papers.

I've been keeping my eye out for a while now but it looks like the '97 R Reg mx-6's are as rare as ever.

it seems to be one of those things at the moment where you check ebay etc in the morning then a load turn up at night, then nothing for a week. Theres not many good ones around at the moment and I count myself very lucky with my find. Its by no means mint, but good value for what I paid.

Grin

Morning Guys,

I reckon that those MX 6's which are in excellent nick will now start to remain with enthusiasts like us who will not be selling them unless some unforseen need/event forces a sale.

They will become " As rare as hen's teeth " in the future.

I hardly ever see an MX 6 these days when I am out and about and that is why they attract so much attention from other road users.

Of course, there were never many around when they were new.

Hopefully, the few that remain will become very collectable and increase in value.

Paula

Hi Chris,

That's a lovely car you have.

Why are you selling her, if I may be so bold to ask?

I'd like to get a skyline, pref 2.5 turbo.

I was a bit torn as i'd like something quicker, but didn't want to possibly ruin my car by modding the hell out of it. I'd rather it go to someone from an owners club.

If yours came up for sale and I had the dollars i'd rip your arm off, but i'm also like you. You could quite easily throw 2 grand or more at upgrading performance on an MX6 to a reasonable spec but the fear of self distruction would be looming round the corner.

The mx6 was never designed to be a supercar and personally i dont think its built to handle more than 250bhp without major work.

Skylines are now affordable, depending on spec and year but the car can handle anything you throw at it which is why they are loved by tuners. A prime example is Rocket Ronnies R33 which won Ten of the Best 3 times. He drove it up there every year from Essex to York, the car is totally complete in terms of interior, stereo and climate control etc, then he rags 10 second 1/4 miles, 200+mph top speed runs and thrashes the handling circuit all day, then drives it home.

http://www.totb.co.uk/images/movies/...ron_totbii.wmv

Ok, so he's thrown a shed load at it down at Abbey Motorsport but it shows that the car can hande it, along with most of the Skyline range.

Personally, i'd like an RX7 as a toy, with a single turbo conversion, but only the lotto will get me there!

I was thinking about an rx-7, but the constant threat of the rotors burning out worries me! And also they really hold their value and i won't have that much to play with. There are loads of r33's about so they aren't too expensive. I'd rather a r34 but that is way out my budget!
