Windy, you said it made an annoying noise when cruising at 60. maybe it'd be worth trying the other one.
At the moment my exhaust has totally snapped in two just before the back box so it's worse than a boyracers! Will I have any trouble at japfest what with it being broken and loud? Is there a temporary fix I can bodge it with? I'm collecting my new stainless steel one when I get to japfest anyway.
Its not the de-cat that was noisy, it was the backbox but now I've swapped it, it sounds sweet, although its a little too quiet to be honest. Certainly makes a difference power wise and worth the £31 I paid.
[color="Yellow"]I've taken people's money, without delivering goods. I've lied about it, too! DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH ME!

I have exactly he same on my 6. The power increase is good, and it pulls much better from low revs, then there is a sudden rush at 5500 up!

Hi I have a september 1992 2gen mx6. I want to know can i have a De-cat , i want to be able to get it thought MOT with out worries about swapping parts. Please Help
On or two members on here get their car's through the MOT without having the CAT test. It's something to do with the year of manufacture.
When I made enqiries about this the tester said 'if the car has a CAT it gets the CAT test'.
So my thinking is if your car fall's into this bracket and you remove the CAT you just might get away with it.
Best to ask your local tester.

Alex, my understanding was that on a 91 / 92 car, the emmisions can be up to 2.2%.
MX6 addict is probably closer to the mark, if it has one they will test it.

I have a '92 MX-6, NO CAT, it goes through the MOT every time.
The MOT tester was right, if it has a CAT on it, it has a CAT test. If it doesn't, and it's a '92, it wont have a CAT test. If it's later than '92, they will require that a CAT be installed otherwise it will fail the test.
I have that actual one shown in windy's post at the top. He did not want it so I had it. It is NOT a direct fit as stated, it is about 25mm short. Now I could have bodged it on by pulling the pipes together, but that would cause undue stress on the flexi pipe, so I git the old cat cut, and welded the flange on to the front of the RS cat.
The result is outstanding! There are no flat spots through the rev range, it pulls all the way until 5000 revs, then you get the rush straight to the red line. With the old cat the sweet spot was at 3750 revs and stopped at 5750. I have a mazda genuine back box, and the car "barks" real good, without shaking the car to bits.
Alex, if you need a photo or help, please shout matey.
Mike
PS, yes I still love my car!!!!!!!
