less than an hour to go, more than 10% of viewers are watchers (40) so lets hope they are planning on bidding or I will be driving a shiny R reg for a bit.
Really need it to sell, i'm broke at the moment.
[color="Yellow"]I've taken people's money, without delivering goods. I've lied about it, too! DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH ME!
not happy, the winner wants to pay a large chunk via paypal and cant collect for 2 weeks. Not sure what to do now, We was looking for £800+ coz after fees etc we'll lose nearly £40. If this guy doesnt go thru with the sale we'll list it Buy it Now as its already on Autotrader as well.

hang on, theres a get out clause. Your listing states clearly CASH ON COLLECTION, with no pay pal/cheques options available. With that in mind, youshould be able to get your fees back off ebay, if you can get the man to mutually accept the sale as cancelled....personally, I would get onto him today and tell him he bid regardless of the listing specifications for payment and that means the sale connot go ahead (hes clearly trying to back himself up by using paypal-either dodgy or simply he wants his own insurance, and lets face it, pay pal is very dangerous when it come to car sales, track records of buyers getting their money back is good-any claim he makes means you lose your cash until dispute is sorted.) he will then have to mutually agree to cancel the sale-and with that you should get your fees back, its all in your favour mate.
Its like a zero feedback bidder bidding when you state for them not to, waste of time.
Agreed, I had to do this the other day on the alloys. Big red letters said CASH ON COLLECTION but the winner paid by paypal straight away then wanted me to package them so he could arrange a courier. Ended up cancelling the sale thru ebay.
Then, a friend of mine sold a fridge which was cash on collection. The winner paid via paypal but she thought "oh well" and they came and collected the fridge. Then a week later the buyer put in a claim thru paypal that it wasnt as described and was damaged etc and tried to claim the full amount back. Thats attempted theft so she rang her and politely put her in her place. Paypal cancelled the claim.
I'll give the buyer til tomorrow to decide what to do, then if needed i'll have to cancel the sale and re-list buy it now. Gutted.

Ebay now insist that paypal is listed as a payment option, even if you dont want it to be. Just had a chat with this bloke and told him that I wont accept his £300 paypal coz we will lose more money and the listing states cash on collection WITHIN 3 DAYS. He says he didnt read that bit so I said if he cant get it collected by Wednesday i'll relist it. The conversation started out ok but got heated towards the end as he was making out he had me over a barrel so I said I was cancelling the sale. Eventually he agreed so now I have to list it all over again.
All we want is £800, I think thats a fair price for a 1997 car that wants absolutely nothing doing to it and looks the part.

I know you have said you need to cash Paul, but I htnk you have done the right thing here. I hope ebay give you your money back, and I dont understand the pay pal thing-if its not a payment option, its not a payment option, what if you dont have a paypal account, or a bank account, thats just stupid. anyway. hold out as best you can for the cash you want, your not askign for much for such a good car.
The paypal thing is part of the new "buyer protection" policy ebay have. Unfortunately, like the new feedback system, it means that the buyer has total control over the seller AND can easily scam an unwitting seller. Classic example is the woman with the fridge. She left my friend nasty negative feedback a week after collecting and inspecting the fridge in person + tried to claim the ££ back when they have the item.
Ebay and paypal have turned into a nightmare, which is why i'd prefer to sell to people on here or privately.
Stupid thing is, not one person rang about the car the whole time it was on ebay. I guarantee the 1st person to turn up would pay the ££ for it. If it was a manual I'd sell mine and keep it, without doubt. It really is one of the best 6's i've seen and driven, and i've seen a few. Oh well, we'll see how it goes.

Sorry to hear about the problems you're having mate. As with most people who've been following this (I actually saw it on eBay before coming across it on here), I would've snapped it up if it were a manual!
Beautiful 6 (best stock colour IMHO), lovely work
Incidentally, what's that underneath the back bumper; a third brake/fog light or something?
Yeah, I like...not sure about the one at the bottom of the bumper, but maybe would function better as a rear fog...
Unfortunately can't see the interior one at all due to the sun/reflection on the rear window. Do you know anything about supply/fitment of either?
Thanks for your continued help, you're an absolute star!
Good result mate pleased for you.We have 18 watchers at the moment not sure how many are from the forum though.Rough calculation 5 watchers from the forum inc yourself,50% of the rest will just watch, the rest will either forget to bid or will just bid silly money, there maybe one or two who are serious given the fact we have had several questions.Got offered a motorbike today an old suzuki 550 needless to say Maria was not impressed.
