i can see j-spec bits on the car all around, but also non jspec bits, can we find out from the reg or something?
its got that funny armrest, climate control (which i thought only came with jspecs?) and of course the square number plate. I might be interested in it if it is...
My money is on it's an E-spec with J-spec bits. Without seeing the 'climate control' it's hard to be sure. He says it's had a bump at the front so they might have replaced the lamps with e-spec's. Best tell tail is a look at the Inlet manifold, always the giveaway!
I can see where Clive is coming from. It looks like it might have SS sill's.
The J-spec I stripped (def a J-spec, found a Yen in it!) had E-spec rear lights, sunroof, rear bumper and speedo in MPH.
yup, thats what am lookign at. plus, the spoiler has a light, i know e specs do but in light of climate control etc it does make you think, seems a lot of effort to turn an espec into a jspec, my moneys on the fron tbump-new lights and change to rears. Either that or it doesnt actually have climate control-maybe hes mistaken. gonna email him
hmm..not sure how it works, but date of first registration is 1993, and i thought if it was an import, it would hav ebeen a different date unless it was imported that far back!
ALSO!! i thnk its missing fogs-perhaps another clue to front end damage?
DOH! it has had an accident at the front,. it says so!!
The plugs behind the speedo are completly different between the e and j spec, you wouldn'tget that speedo to fit. I tried it with mine!
hmmm, partly disagree mate. When I had my j-spec we swapped the 110mph j-spec clocks over to a 140mph uk set and they worked perfect, straight swap and calibrated to the right speed.
Having said that, the j-spec we broke at the weekend had a uk speedo with a kph/mph converter on it so there might be 2 types.
I've still got the uk cluster with j-spec converter sat here if you want them Chris?

as said, seems like someone has gone a long way to convert it to e-spec if it was a j-spec to start with. My question is why? Changing the rear bumper seems odd to me, I can understand the lights tho.
The mystery continues...........
