firstly does anybody have or know where i can get a jspec power steering pump from? my one is a bit iffy when i first turn the car on, takes a few mins before it works properly sometimes (unless anybody has a diff solution)
and secondly i have a 92 jspec, will this be the right water pump? i mite aswel swap the lot
hello mark, im not loosing any fluid, it just seems strange that when i start it up in a morning, it seems to be heavy on the steering for the first minute or two?? as if it needs to warm up, which sounds ridiculous i know. any ideas? would bleeding it help?
funny u shud say that because it did come on a few times the other week, so i took all the connectors off and cleaned them up and it hasnt come on since??
shame you couldnt make the breaking day Dave, you could have got the one of the j-spec coz the guys who took the engine didnt need it (they were doing a de/ze hybrid).
You got to remember the car is 17 years old, any number of factors can contribute to problems, not just the pump.
[color="Yellow"]I've taken people's money, without delivering goods. I've lied about it, too! DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH ME!
yeah the light comes on at the start and then goes off as it shud.
to be honest it has come on a few times since having the car, and all i did before was ignition off and back on and it was fine, but i decided there must be a reason so i took all the blocks off and cleaned them up, about two weeks ago, and it hasnt come on at all since, and my 4ws is still working ok.
one of the mechanics where i took my car to, he said i will need a new bracket for my power steering pump soon because mine was bent or something, ive never seen the p/s pump on the 6. do u think that could be somthing to do with it?
The bracket is a real hefty thing, I can't see how it ever got bent! If it is bent the pump will be spinning a bit skew.
To bleed the system you turn the wheels from one lock to the other with the engine off then with the engine running. Don't hold it on full lock for long, it heats up the fluid too much.
Check those connectors you cleaned up, make sure they are all pushed home.
cheers mate, my cars been into the garage today to have the ss headers adjusted/welded up as they had cracked at the join due to tight fitment. and whilst he had it in he told me that my water pump has started leaking. so im definatly going to need one of those, mite aswel do the cambelt at the same time and try and sort the p/s thing too whilst its all off. mite change the p/s belt aswel
