I've never been keen on the plate being 'bolted' to the front of the bumper. I know that nearly all UK cars have a recess for the number plate and it really has to fit there. When you look at the US cars they have a 'full' bumper and so does yours with the TWR Kit. Don't you fancy fitting one below the bumper? I can always make you one in what ever size fits best!

Here's before and after installation of new bumper mounts and bar. Had trouble getting the old bar away from the foam but got there in the end. In bumper11 you can see how the passenger side is off the vertical compared to the driver's side. I'll point this out to the bodyshop and get them to fix that, maybe they can shim it out a bit.
The bonnet is still not meeting the bumper properly but it's alot better. Hopefully that will be sorted after the bodyshop visit.
The bumper does have a rectangular recess.

You mean "persuaded gently with precision persuading"
Erm, yeah...if you insist!
Gives me an excuse to get some fancy plates...but to be honest, I am worried about some little so-and-so nicking them...

What's this fad with square number plates, I much prefer the O/E rectangular ones......

Erm, not sure. But Windy's convinced me that the car looks wider (and therefore lower) with the square plate...I kinda agree

Haven't thought of it like that before but now you mention it... I don't agree. If you wear stripes across your chest on a top it makes you look broader doesn't it? Wear a pin stripe suit it makes you look taller?
We moved from 4:3 ratio TV's to 16:9's because it was more natural to the eye, your natural view is 16:9 - rectangular.. you see where I'm going with this? I think the square plate looks unnatural.

Yeah, I see what you mean...but I think Windy means the plate is narrower, and therefore the width of the car "remaining"/that you can see is bigger... Told you I wasn't sure!
Anyways, my rectangular number plate is currently dirtying my dashboard, so I gotta get something! I'm looking at DemonPlates for a fancy one

Just like that Alfa with the number plate on one side of the bumper.
The rectangular one blends beautifully with the bumper and I feel makes the car look wider.
All a matter of taste and opinion, of course .....

My feeling's are that the MX6 was designed without a front number plate in mind.
For any purist's the UK bumper has a reses for a square plate, the rectangle plate, no matter how you look at it, is an 'add on', there is no obvious mounting point like most cars.
I've always fancied the US style bumper that is completely smooth
But not sure how or where the plate would look best, in the US you don't have to have a plate on the front!
