Selling: Full HQ cam belt full kit and new tensioner
I worked out that the cam belt had been changed 8k miles before I got the car (they're replaced ever 54k not 60k as I previously believed) so I won't need to change it until I reach 162k miles.
It's brand new from probestore still boxed and the tensioner is from america also still boxed.
Basically if you're planning on buying any of these just buy it from me instead of probestore as I really need the money right now (my £1175 insurance totally wiped me out)
I'm looking for the original value really as I'll be buying it again when I reach 162k miles.
Thanks
Robert
p.s. If I need to put up pictures then I will but it's just the stuff from probestore
Mark at probestore is letting me send the stuff back for a full refund!! I can't believe how amazing their customer service is!
That means it's just the tensioner now.
Mark, if you don't want the tensioner, I will have it.
I'm fairly sure it is exactly the same on a ZE - after all they had to have a certain level of pattern parts across the build, I doubt they would've changed the tensioner.
I have a problem with my engine in that the belt often slips and squeals like a bitch, especially when it's cold. I think my tensioner has had it.
That's the one. I have an alloy crankshaft pulley fitted, and we had to put on a slightly narrower belt to make it work. The indications are that this pulley is what is causing the squealing, but I'm willing to bet the tensioner isn't giving it enough pressure either.
sorry for the hijack but while we're comparing parts can anyone tell me if a UK spec aux tensioner bracket will fit a j-spec. While sorting The Mexicans last week we noticed the tensioner bracket on his j-spec was broken off at the bottom. I have this UK one but I need to be sure it fits.
[color="Yellow"]I've taken people's money, without delivering goods. I've lied about it, too! DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH ME!
When I start up cold sometimes I get a squeal. Does that mean when mazda change the cambelt they only change the belt and the pump and I probably have knackered old pulleys and tensioner?
If that's the case then I may keep hold of the stuff and get it all changed anyway... we'll see.
BTW, the tensioner I'm selling is the same price on ebay. Just follow the link in my second post.
Cheers
Robert
p.s. If three of you want a tensioner for cheap then one person could get three to save on international delivery costs then send them out to the other two. Just an idea.
Windy, I thought Dave thought he had a problem with the power steering bracket? I'll check the aux bracket, I only have half an E-spec bracket to compare but I'm sure it will be enough to see any difference.
Been keeping tabs on this thread .. its getting too far off the mark for me ..

Ben.
Belts that slip and squeal have no teeth, your problem will be either power steering belt or alternator belt tension, andf if you have an underdrive crank pully, my guessing will be the alternator belt and it no longer spins as much as the standard and therefore less power is supplied to the battery to re-charge, a lot of short journeys may not even top it back up again from what was used to start it, hence the squeal due to the high demand from the battery after startup.

Ben.
Did this alloy pully also have the splined crank sprocket the cambelt goes to ? i would guess its only the pully and this has not direct contact with the cambelt, so the squealing will be aux belts.

Again, most likely alternator belt not tight enough.

Its the one that usually breaks!! lol
thats the Alternator belt tensioner, you can always tell the alternator bracket by the long black cylindrical tube that the bolt goes through and keeps the tensioner clear of the timing belt covers.
Thankyou for the clarification. When you put it that way - it's very logical. I didn't know the accessory belts had no teeth on them. I've never actually looked at them in that way before.
