I'm going to have to scrap my old car as I no longer have the space to keep it. Does anyone need any parts from it. It was in good working order when it was SORNed late last year. The best parts are probably the wheels (I have some speedlines as well) and the leather which is in good if not perfect condition. It also has a third break light in the rear spoiler. The front bumper and lights may well end up in the US as i've had people PM me in the past asking for them.
I'm not very technical so I may have a hard time getting some parts off. Also, if anyone wants to tell me some parts I really should keep then i'll do me best as I do have some space to store them.
I'm after both headlamps. The mountings on my headlamps, including my spare, are broken and the beam adjusters won't work. I'm blinding drivers at the moment.
Have you promised anyone in the states that you'd send the lamps to them?

Hi Chris, is the car MOT'd? that reg would sell if it was.
I would keep wings, doors, bonnet, infact if it was being scrapped I would get everything off.
BTW, if you get a request for the front bumper again from the US, and decide to go for it, can you let me know how you managed to ship it as the cheapest quote we got, just to get it from shore to shore was $400, + $300 shipping once it arrives and customs charges!
Elmer, if you need headlight housings I have 3 sat here with no lenses on that you can have FOC, just not sure if I have a pair as I think they might all be drivers side ones.
Smashed rear screen is a specialist job. Autowindscreens or a body shop.
Seem to remember people talking about "saving" DTP's mx6 that was for sale for £40, but no-one lifted a finger on it. Its always the same, some owners want the parts to keep theirs on the road, others moan that "its too good to break" then do nothing about it.
The "save the mx6" campaigns always sound good, and I praise you for your good intentions, but look at it logically. If the seller is skint and cant afford the repairs/parts/mot/tax etc then they have money tied up in a car that may be needed elsewhere. Times are hard at the moment, if this was Cheesys only means of transport i'd be scouring the lockup for the bits to help but its been sat for nearly a year so it must be annoying to see it sat there.
Theres a lot of members who could benefit from bits off this car. At least its not at a breakers where decent parts will be lost. Sounds like he's making the right choice to me as he's willing to store the bits for future use and there are already people who have posted that would benefit from bits.
it doesnt say anywhere in his advert that he wants to put it back on the road. Like Addict says, he has a beautiful mx6 already so why would he plough more money into one that he doesnt want to save when he can break it and keep parts for himself or benefit others?
I'm lucky, the only thing i'd have off it is the bootlid and spoiler if it did get broken, but I gave Cheese a pm with advice on what to keep for others.
I just dont see why this car is any different to the £40 one that no-one saved?
Davidos, you dont see it my way coz you dont own a 6 but I would praise you highly if you could get this one and restore it for yourself. Its far from needing a lot of work, so fingers crossed you can get it and make it good. GL to you.
