Mx6 V6 For Sale

My 1996 MX6 has to go as I don't have the space to keep it and I've a company car coming at the end of the month.
I've really enjoyed this car but I'm sure someone else will too.
It’s a red V6 with 167453 miles on the clock; I've had it since approx 90K. The car is Mot’d until 3 Dec 09 and currently taxed until June 10, but I intend to reclaim that before the month end.

I've looked after the car but it has the usual marks from careless trolley drivers in car parks, it has a small rust patch on the sun roof and both rear wheel arches have rust on them with the off-side being the worst.

The black leather interior is in very good condition but the driver’s door-side bolster has worn through in a very small patch. All 4 original Mazda car mats with the MX6 logo are in good condition too.

The cam belt was changed at approx150K as well as the water pump all pulleys, all other belts, both cam shaft friction springs , the sump gasket and both cam cover gaskets and I also cleaned all of the HLA's.

The engine currently has iridium plugs and Magnacor 10mmm leads fitted as well as a Hot-Shot cold air intake, I have the original air filter assembly which will be included in this sale. A new distributor was fitted last year too. I have regularly changed the oil every 6k.

All the suspension was replaced at 130K with Tokico gas adjustable shocks and Illumina springs and both front lower wishbones were replaced at the same time; front and rear aluminium strut bars are also fitted.

All 4 brake disks were replaced 2 years ago as well as both rear callipers and last year I replaced all of the flexible hoses with braided stainless steel ones from Goodridge.

The standard exhaust manifolds were replaced with SS Autochrome ones in 07 along with both O2 sensors and a full cat back Scorpion exhaust was fitted at the same time, the original cat is still fitted.

The stereo is a Pioneer DEH-P80MP 4 x60W and has the Pioneer CD-IB100 iPod interface fitted. All 4 speakers were replaced with 100W speakers from Infinity.

All 5 Speedline wheels were fully refurbished 2 years ago and the spare has not been on the car since then, all 4 tyres, Bridgestone 205/50, were replaced last year and have plenty of life in them

Everything works except for the aircon it simply won’t engage the magnetic clutch (it might need a regas) it worked last year and was checked back in 04 A new fan control resistor from Mazda was fitted last year.
I have all of the original Mazda manuals as well as the manuals for the stereo.

Pictures of the car can be found here:

MX6 - a set on Flickr

Please note that the photos show a Snooper speed detector and you may be able to see a control for a Bluetooth hands free telephone system, these will be removed and are not for sale. I have also installed an original folding mirror switch, again this will be removed and the blank replaced as I’m selling the switch with the door mirrors which I never managed to fit.

Separately, I will also be selling a set of the Original Mazda workshop manuals and a copy of the Haynes imported manual as well as a set of folding door mirrors which I never got round to fitting as mentioned above.

I’m open to offers and look forward to hearing from you.

I’d also like to thank those of you that have helped me with info both through answering questions and by providing advice and write-ups which I was able to follow later. Thanks and good luck to you all at MX6.com
Cheers,
David

Hi David,

Your car is very well cared for and looks awesome.

I see that you also have a 'J' spec rear spoiler with brake light fitted.

Good luck with the sale and please keep in touch.

what sort of money are you hoping for? I think its hard to make offers without something to go on, daft as that sounds!!

someone might come along and offer you £200, which would be an insult!

Update

I've decided to opt for the Mazda Scrappage and got £6K off a new RX8 so the car is no longer for sale.

I will sell a few items that can be readily removed from the car such as:

Hot Shot Cold Air Intake £55
Front Strut Bar £35
Rear Strut Bar £35
4x 100W Infinity Speakers £50
Pioneer Head unit £80
Pioneer iPod Interface £40
Electric Folding door mirrors & Switch £60
Distributor £70
Haynes Manual £5

All ONO plus P+P
I am also prepared to swap all 5 tyres and wheels for a legal but worn set as the car must still be legal when I trade it in. PM me to discuss if you are interested

Regards,

David

Hi everyone,

If a car goes for scrappage then surely it has to be crushed whether the car is 100% or not ????

correct, thats why if the car can be kept legal and safe but anything/uprated be swapped its worth the effort. I will be a crime if some of the good bits go to the crusher.

Yes that's right but I get a brand new RX8 out of the deal with £6000 off the list price, no one on earth is going to give me that for my car not even a diehard enthusiast. Let's face it the car was only worth £500 at best so as I see it I'm getting at least 12 times it's value.

its not being parted out, its being traded in so has to be complete.

No one will ship a bumper to canada, it costs $1000 and thats no BS.

£6K???? thats brilliant, well done, seems well worth it to me!

I do need a stereo, and speakers (well, only need two speakers) how many "way" are the speakers, and what model pioneer is it (need to look it up)
my car should be fixed by next week, so money permitting, i need to treat myself...
cheers.

p.s. will you come back and upload some rx8 pics please??

Hi Clivjoo,

The stereo is a Pioneer DEH-P80MP 4 x60W and has the Pioneer CD-IB100 iPod interface fitted. All 4 speakers (2 way) are 100W speakers from Infinity. I have the manuals for both pieces and a few cables for the head unit, I may even have the original boxes but I can't promie that I'll find them.

Cheers David
